The Church is Abandoning God’s Word and Endangering the Jews
CHARLESTON, S.C. — Israel advocate Earl Cox warns that Replacement Theology and Fulfillment Theology fuel antisemitism by teaching Christians that God rejected the Jewish people, ended His covenant with Israel and transferred His promises to the Church.
Earl Cox states:
“Antisemitism does not grow in a vacuum. Teaching that Israel has been written out of God’s covenant plants dangerous seeds. God did not break His promise to Israel, the Church did not replace Israel.
“Seminaries and divinity schools that separate the Old and New Testaments instead of teaching them as one continuous biblical witness leave pastors with no a clear understanding of God’s covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and its continuing importance to the Jewish people and Israel.
“The New Testament cannot be properly understood by discarding or diminishing the Old Testament. Jesus did not erase God’s promises. Gentile believers were grafted in; they did not replace Israel.
“Errant theology is not the only source of antisemitism, however, a doctrine portraying the Jewish people as rejected by God can create religious indifference toward antisemitism and hostility toward Israel.”
Cox plans daily commentaries and public appearances to examine published teachings from seminaries, denominations, ministries and churches; quote them accurately and in context; identify their sources; and compare them with Scripture. Where documented evidence supports it, he intends to identify the institutions and teachers involved and invite them to a civil, Bible-open public forum. Public teaching deserves public, Bible-open examination, showing the Christian public the book, the chapter and the verse.
Cox continues:
“Silence is no longer harmless. When influential institutions promote ideas that diminish the Jewish people’s history, legitimacy or place in the world, those ideas must be examined publicly. Antisemitism advances when decent people look away. The time for scrutiny, moral clarity and accountability is now.”
