For almost the past twenty years, Americans have been listening to the calls FOR a new Article V Constitutional Convention (or CON CON), which if called into existence by the U.S. Congress would be the FIRST CON CON since the original one that was held in Philadelphia in the summer of 1787. I’ve visited the Pennsylvania State House (now called Independence Hall) in Philadelphia twice over the years, and I’ve been in the vary Assembly Chamber wherein our present venerable Constitution was argued over, codified, and adopted. Both times it was a humbling experience. To be in the same large chamber in which so many of our Patriot forebears labored during the beastly hot Philadelphia summer, and see the ACTUAL and ORIGINAL “Rising Sun Chair” (made by John Folwell in 1779) on which George Washington sat as President of the Convention was very special to my wife and me each time.

Let’s begin this investigation with an undisputable truth: Even the most conservative estimates by trustworthy groups indicate that around 80% of ALL CURRENT EXPENDITURES approved by the big spending phonies in Congress VIOLATE the U.S. Constitution. That sad and very frightening fact would NOT change by adding a so-called “Balanced Budget Amendment” to that increasingly ignored document. (Our federal budget has NOT been balanced since the Administration of President Bill Clinton).
Advocates of a new CON CON, mostly the persistent CONVENTION OF STATES, ACTION (or COS Action for short), headed by Mark Meckler since 2017, basically refuse to refer to their efforts as a new CON CON, in which, if called by Congress, an entirely NEW and potentially freedom destroying Constitution would theoretically be possible. COS, ACTION never calls their “convention” an Article V CON CON (as specified in our Constitution) but “merely” a “Convention of States”, or “A Convention of the States, in order to hide their real intentions. COS, ACTION assures the American people, especially all of the probably sincere patriots who have declared themselves as supporters of “a Convention of States”, into falsely believing that this will resolve our huge budget deficits and “guarantee” a balanced budget (which it would NOT, because in the proposed BB Amendment there are several exemptions and exceptions that WOULD allow an “Unbalanced Budget”), And you can believe that our congressional Big Spenders would always avail themselves of the exemptions!
WOULD “TERM LIMITS” REALLY BE A GOOD IDEA?
Mark Meckler and his supporters assure Americans that their COS is the “only” assured solution to the admittedly MAJOR problem of uncontrolled and profligate, wasteful spending by Congress (ELON MUSK and his D.O.G.E. group are discovering mega-billions of that). Concentrating on the numerous terms served by House Representatives and by Senators who constantly disregard our Constitution is only a “smoke screen” used by COS, ACTION to reinforce their goal of instituting their so-called “Convention of States”. But our Founders were against putting mandatory “term limits” in the Constitution, preferring instead to let the American people VOTE THE BAD ONES OUT. I think they were right, because mandated term limits could cause a significant part of each legislative chamber to be filled with “LAME DUCKS” who, not having to face their constituents again, could run amok, sponsoring numbers of unconstitutional laws and excessively wasteful spending! If YOU are in favor of “term limits”, did you ever consider that possible big problem? Hmmmm?
Whether or not you subscribe to COS, Action’s assurances is for you to decide, but in my opinion the erroneous arguments for a CON CON (although they try to hide their intentions by calling it a “Convention of States”, “different”, so they assure us, from an Article V CON CON—BUT IT IS NOT) that come loudly and frequently from “patriots” with agendas and also from shadowy plotters who recognize an opportunity to replace the 1787 Constitution that they despise. Unfortunately many patriots, and most of them ARE patriots who are convinced that a COS or a CON CON will solve our nation’s impending bankruptcy and the increasingly treacherous disregard of our Constitution’s mandates, still unthinkingly support COS, ACTIONS’s demands to call for a COS!. Mark Meckler’s unwise panaceas are misinformed, subject to wishful thinking (“We’ve GOT to do something to solve this crisis”), Manipulation of “suggested solutions” is rampant.
Their argument for their COS, or in actuality a CON CON, assures us that:
Article V of the U.S. Constitution gives our state legislatures the power to call for a convention to rein in an out-of-control federal government (it certainly IS that). The Founders gave us that one tool, therefore it’s up to the state legislatures to use it and save our nation.
So, are you “buying” their arguments yet? Those of us with suspicious minds, like me and perhaps like you, must seek answers from this pro-CON CON gaggle, especially since our congressional legislators have ALMOST NEVER restrained their reckless and often wasteful and unconstitutional spending and have CONSTANTLY violated their oaths to preserve and protect, and OBEY, our mostly ignored Constitution. WHY should we, the American people, assume that the phony new “balanced budget amendment” will be heeded or obeyed any more than any of the other existing amendments or articles/clauses of our Constitution? Almost ALL of our D.C. lawmakers continually violate their oath to obey our Constitution. Why do we, the people, continually let them get away with their failure? Are we to trust the very people who have often been in D.C. for decades, and who have created our national crisis, just because they approve a “balanced budget amendment” and the states ratify it? OR will those who “thumb their nose” at fiscal restraint do the same even if AMENDMENT #28 is ratified? What do YOU think?
Don’t you find it “interesting” that since 1793 our venerable Constitution has been amended 27 times WITHOUT the need of Congress or our state legislatures to call for a COS, or more accurately—a CON CON? Why, do you suppose, is there so much recent pressure to call for a new convention? Could it be that there are those among us who have certain “agendas”, and that greatly changing or even abrogating (TRASHING) our present; mostly ignored, Constitution is on their agenda? Can you conceive of that as a possibility? I surely can, and do!
Do you think it possible that there are those among us who detest our FIRST AMENDMENT FREEDOMS of religion, of the press, of protesting peacefully? What about our supremely important SECOND AMENDMENT, the one that guarantees ALL the others? Are there “Americans” (loosely defined) among us today who detest the fact that our Founders gave their posterity the right to keep (own) and bear firearms—not just to go “hunting or target shooting” with, but to protect their lives and the lives of their loved ones from criminal or illegal alien invaders or from the potentially violent and criminal depravations of “our” own fellow citizens or from “our” government? Are there so-called “Americans” among us—people such as Marxists/collectivists/extreme and violent leftists of the World Economic Forum (WEF) variety who would love to replace our present Constitution with a NEW socialist/Marxist/New World Order variety of Constitution that would deny us all of our God-given rights? (They’re out there, just waiting for the right moment to be introduced. I’ve read parts of them. Even George Soros has one, and he’s just “itching” to introduce it in a future COS!).
Are there globalists/world government nuts/promoters of harsh tyranny waiting in the wings, so to speak—people who for two centuries or more have worked surreptitiously to undo what our Founders accomplished when they codified our God-given rights into our present Constitution? You’d better believe that there are! Would some—perhaps ALL of them—be attracted to a new CON CON, especially if they were paid agents of powerful and wealthy globalists and oligarchs who despise freedom for anyone but themselves? Could some of the “delegates” to a CON CON or a phony COS be agents provocateurs, paid to disrupt the proceedings or introduce collectivist proposals? Money is power, and wealthy globalists worship power. Their ultimate “power trip” would be to destroy our present Constitution. THAT is what some of these traitorous cretins have been trying to accomplish since shortly after the ink was dry on our 1787 Constitution. You might trust them to have only “good intentions”. I NEVER WILL!
