Pastor Lays Aside Political Correctness, Confronts Radical Islam
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
“It is Impossible to Defeat an Enemy you are Unwilling to Identify.”
On Sunday morning following the radical Islamic attacks on innocent civilians in Paris, Dr. Robert Jeffress Pastor of First Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, dispensed with political correctness and provided a special message to his congregation. Dr. Jeffress and Pastor Donnie Swaggart have demonstrated boldness and courage that most pastors and elected officials have not yet exhibited.
The message now on U-tube lasts only 6 minutes and will be quoted as near verbatim as possible.
I feel like I need to address the tragedy we all witnessed this weekend in Paris. What should be our response to that tragedy? Certainly, as Christians, we should be praying for the victims and the victims families. Psalms 34 says, The Lord is close to those who are broken hearted.
A Visit from Four Black Bears on State Park Rd.
- By Terry M. Thacker
Valerie Adams, who lives in the State Park Road area, awoke Saturday morning anticipating setting up a garage sale, only to discover a family of four black bears in her back yard. Although she contemplated cancelling the sale, she decided to go ahead with it, all the while the four bruins slumbered peacefully high up in the branches of a tree. A family of bears, probably the same ones, have recently been spotted in the general area by other individuals as well. By the way, the bears were not for sale.
Shift in Attitude Regarding Refugees
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
On the third Tuesday night in November, Greenville County Council unanimously passed a resolution urging a halt to acceptance of refugees that have not been adequately vetted and proven not to be terrorists. Two weeks earlier, the Council had taken a hard line against such a resolution. What happened to drastically change the attitude?
The day before South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley modified her stand on welcoming refugees from the United Nations refugee stream. Haley had earlier agreed to accept the refugees. What motivated the change in position by the Governor?

Sarah Palin sees Trump, Cruz as GOP Finalists
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Trump Holds Strong Lead in all three Early Primary States, Cruz Passes Carson in Iowa. Stop Trump PAC Forming.
“I think it will come down to Trump and Cruz, to tell you the truth,” said former Alaska Governor and Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin in an interview with WBT-FM in Charlotte, North Carolina last Thursday.
“People are really tired of professional politicians who won’t call it like they see it and maybe don’t have life experiences that allow them to prove a track record of success.
“That’s refreshing about Trump. He’s a fighter. We know he’s going to put America first. And he really nailed it early on what the main problems are in America right now.”
Spiritual Warfare in the Flesh
The Islamic slaughter of more then 130 innocent people in Paris, Friday night, has Americans suddenly concerned about safety. We know from the days before Obama (BO) and extreme political correctness that it is the “truth that sets men free.” Therefore, if we are to have victory over and freedom from the various Islamic terrorist organizations, we must know the truth about who they are, what motivates them and their ultimate goals.
The origin of this conflict goes back to Genesis in the Old Testament. Abraham failed to obey God and fathered a son “Ishmael” by his wife’s maid. He was banished from the family when a legitimate son “Isaac” was born to Abraham and his wife Sarah. Ishmael became the father of the Muslims and Isaac the father of the Jews. There is much more to the story in the book of Genesis.

He did not venture into domestic and foreign policy issues.
Cruz’s “Rally for Religious Liberty” at BJU
- By Arthur Hampton
Republican Presidential candidate Ted Cruz went to Bob Jones University, Saturday afternoon, holding the “Rally for Religious Liberty.” Hundreds filled the campus beginning with a moment of silence for the Paris attacks. Cruz exclaimed that Obama is not doing enough to fight ISIS, and if Americans do not act, “we will be mourning another attack like this.”
Cruz began his speech by quoting Martin Luther King, Jr. and reminded the audience that he was indeed a pastor. Cruz then attempts to appeal to conservatives, quoting Reagan’s first speech at Notre Dame after he was shot, stating, “‘Communism is a bizarre chapter in human history, whose last pages even now are being written.’ Let me say that the same is true of radical Islamic terrorism.” In addition, Cruz notes interestingly that Notre Dame had a “tremendous Christian Heritage.”

Similar attacks have and could again take place in America at any time. Governor Haley and Greenville County Council Chairman Dr. Bob Taylor appear fully in support of the refugee program with no inclination to budge. Citizens will attempt to change their minds.
Christian Film Pioneer Katherine Stenholm Passes at 98
- By Press Release
Dr. Katherine Stenholm, 98, director and academic head of Bob Jones University’s Unusual Films since its founding in 1950 until her partial retirement in 1986, passed away last night in Greenville.
Once hailed as the “godmother of religious films,” Stenholm directed 72 films including six feature length films, as well as sermon films, travelogues, documentaries, sacred musical productions, promotional films and educational films during her 36 years at the helm of Unusual Films.
During an era where Hollywood produced few influential women, Unusual Films’ Stenholm ascended as possibly the most influential female filmmaker of the mid-twentieth century. For years, Stenholm was the only woman director who held a membership in the University Film Producers Association (UFPA) and the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE).
Doctor Assesses Jeb Bush's Plan On Obamacare
- By Elizabeth Lee Vliet, M.D.
In an odd sense of timing, Jeb Bush, former Republican governor of Florida, released his plan for overhauling Obamacare on the same day as the first debate for the Democrat Presidential candidates, so there was little media attention to his proposals. Governor Bush’s plan does address some of the worst provisions of Obamacare and pushes for a more limited role of the federal government. But it’s still a very mixed bag.
On the plus side, the Bush plan lacks the massive micromanage-ment of Obamacare. It would give states more flexibility to decide how best to use a pool of money from federal taxpayers to provide medical coverage for those with low income and/or pre-existing conditions. But each state would still have to meet federal criteria on various outcome measures, yet to be determined. This is a “tweak” but not a “fix” for a serious flaw of Obamacare.
Liberals Call Immorality "Progress"
- By Winston McCuen - Ware Shoals
The decline of morals in America has ceased to be gradual. Morality in our society is now in free fall. Most Americans now find the pleasures of sin preferable to the salutary discipline of virtue.
The filth of homosexuality abounds. Liberal abortionists have murdered over a million children a year since 1973. Mongrelization has replaced Biblical conformation to type. American society is an increasingly dangerous cesspool that is drowning our children. But the attitude of most people is, so long as we have material prosperity, and our property is safe and we have the security of peace, why worry?
The Lawless History of Hillary Clinton
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
What is wrong with the RNC? Are they ignorant, stupid or afraid of Hillary Clinton? Hillary had a notorious history before emails were in use and before Barack Obama named her his secretary of state. If the RNC were interested in assuring that Republicans regain the White House, they would be educating the American people on the jaded history and alleged crimes of Hillary Rhodham Clinton as recorded by the U.S. media.
We could begin with the fact that she was a student and admirer of sixties radical Sol Alinsky, author of Rules for Radicals, dedicated to Lucifer, and the guidebook for Barack Obama’s destruction of our constitutional republic.
As a young lawyer, Hillary was fired from the Congressional Watergate Committee staff for allegedly falsifying documents.
Obama’s “Syrian” Refugee Resettlement Plans Breath-Taking Costs Exceeding $257,481 per Household
- By Mike Scruggs
Unacceptable Waste and Horrific Dangers
Both the Heritage Foundation and the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) have weighed in on the enormous costs of President Obama’s plans to permanently settle 200,000 Middle Eastern refugees in the United States during 2016 and 2017. Several thousand have already arrived, and at least 10,000 more are scheduled to arrive during the balance of 2015. Although thousands of Syrian and Iraqi Christians are being massacred or enslaved by ISIS, few of these refugees are Christians, and only about half are Syrians fleeing ISIS. So far, 97 percent of the refugees settled in the U.S. have been Sunni Muslims. Approximately the same percentages are true for the massive columns of refugees moving through Europe, most of them headed for Germany or Sweden, where social-welfare benefits are the most generous. They are coming from all over the Middle East and Africa, with substantial numbers coming from Libya, Afghanistan, and Somalia, as well as Syria, Iraq, and Turkey. It is of some concern that 70 to 80 percent of these refugees are military age males. The U.S. FBI has already testified to Congress that they are unable to vet them and only reject about 10 percent. President Obama is urging them to expedite vetting. The same situation on vetting seems to be the rule in Europe.
Greenville County Council Tabled Refugee Proposal
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
World Relief Director Addressed Council Committee of Whole but Had Few Answers to Questions.
Citizens asked Greenville County Council during their last two meetings to pass a resolution asking Governor Haley to suspend acceptance of refugees relocated through World Relief until questions regarding security and funding are answered.
Such a resolution has been passed by Pickens County Council, The Greenville County Republican Party Executive Committee and the Greenville County Republican Women’s Club.
Council invited Jason Lee, Director of the Upstate Office of World Relief to address their Committee of the Whole Tuesday, November 3rd.
Lee spoke briefly in general terms and council members asked questions. Councilman Willis Meadows asked the most questions using a brochure from a meeting in Spartanburg as a guide. Meadows and Joe Dill attended a meeting on the World Relief refugee program last month.
American Courage
- By Frank Hall - Greenville, SC
A couple of days ago I got a huge shock when Michael Medved, commenting on conservative Christian talk radio, chastised Ted Cruz and other right wing Republicans for wanting to cut the funding for Planned Parenthood. Why not? He said people should never get in a fight they can’t win. If you are sure you can win, then it is okay to fight. But Cruz can’t win this fight because President Obama will veto Cruse’s bill, shut the government down, and the Republicans will get blamed (again) for it.
Republican Revolution
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
The Republican Party’s arrogant scheme to select the 2016 GOP presidential candidate years ahead of the election and attempt to force the party electorate to like and support their choice has become a disaster. Their choice was Jeb Bush. Predictably, the electorate has rejected Bush three months before the first primary election, and the fallout is threatening to tear the party apart.
Unfortunately, Bush, who is a capable individual with some unpopular ideas, is the unintended victim of the RNC who intended to assure his nomination, but instead assured his demise.
Eighty-five Korean and WWII Veterans take 15th Annual Honor Flight

The vets visited the World War II, Korean and Vietnam War Memorials, as well as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, where they observed the Change of the Guard ceremony.
American Legion Post Named for Cuban Missile Crisis Hero
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Major Rudolf Anderson, Jr. Grew up in Greenville, Commissioned in USAF From Clemson AFROTC, Only Casualty of Cuban Missile Crisis
When the founding officers of American Legion Post 214 in Taylors were deciding on a military hero to honor with the name of the new post, Major Rudolf Anderson, Jr. was the perfect choice. The post was dedicated to the memory of Major Anderson at the site of the memorial erected in his memory on October 27, 2015, the 53rd anniversary of his death at the controls of a U-2 reconnaissance plane several miles in the sky over Cuba.
Major Anderson was both the hero and the only American casualty of the Cuban Missile Crisis. His sacrifice produced photographs of Soviet missiles that were eventually withdrawn from the island by the Soviet Union. Major Anderson’s ultimate sacrifice may have saved millions of lives by producing intelligence that helped avert a nuclear war.
