Boomer’s Tale - Part 6
- By W. H. Lamb
About Painful Joints, Red-suited Invaders, and Obamacare
Happy New Year, everyone! This is Boomer back with you again at the start of the new year of 2014. While I’m still not certain as to just exactly what a “year” is, and what happened to the year 2013, which I was enjoying just a few days ago, I suppose I’ll have to agree with my Grampa and Gramma (the two humans I try to take care of), when I heard them say that, “The older we get the faster the years seem to fly by.” I didn’t realize that “years” had wings with which they can fly, but I think I understood what they meant, for at almost 11 years old I can remember my humans talking a lot about “flying years” all during my lifetime. I’ll have to watch carefully this New Year to try to spot a “year” flying by me. I know that those stupid crow bird things that I dislike have wings, and keep flying away when I try to catch one of them; perhaps a “year” is some kind of bird. Perhaps ... There I go, digressing again. It’s a bad habit of mine.
Facing the Challenges of a New Year
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
The year 2013 has been a virtual nightmare for many Americans. Most Americans are seeing their standard of living shrink and the prospects of a dismal uncertain future. The “Affordable Health Care Act” is destroying the best health care system the world has known and there seems to be no real will to reverse it.
Military families are being torn apart by frequent combat tours and social experiments imposed by the current administration that does not understand nor do they care about the men and women who defend the nation with their lives.
Reaction to Tony Beam’s Message
- By Juliette Kozak
The Blessing of Abraham Gen.3:12 is Salvation in Christ. And if ye be in Christ, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. Gal. 3:29
Tony, It was an encouragement to me to know that a pastor would be on the radio on Christmas eve to speak of the truths of the Word of God on our Savior’s birth.
I am constrained to give you my reaction to what you brought to us in your message on the account of our Savior’s birth.
Ethics Committee Drops All Charges Against Rep. Chumley
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Passionate Grass roots Support Influenced Reversal of Political “Witch Hunt”
Representative Bill Chumley has been exonerated. The South Carolina House Ethics Committee has dropped all charges against the state representative from Woodruff who introduced and pushed a bill through the State House to nullify Obamacare and block it from from implementation in South Carolina, ruffling the feathers of the House Speaker and others.
A complaint was filed against Chumley by his political Democrat challenger, who alleged that Chumley had violated SC Code 8-13-765 that in part prohibits the use of government personnel or facilities for campaign purposes.

'Credibility of Current Leadership is Gone – Doing Nothing is not an Option – Hope is not a Strategy'
Retired Major General Paul E. Vallely is continuing his plea for Americans to “get off our derrieres, march to the state capitol, march in Washington and make citizens arrests.”
The outspoken general , who is gaining favor with tea party groups insists that we must confront Barack Obama’s tyranny now. To do so, he is proposing an Egyptian model through which to deal with the current regime.
Subtle Methods of the Liberal Media

Observe how Reporters for Liberal Media tend to Portray Conservatives as a Crude and Ignorant Passing Phenomenon Composed of Mindless Followers of Rush Limbaugh
Washington Post readers were recently given a portrait of what they described as “tea party groups feeling besieged” in Greenville, South Carolina.
“Although poll numbers showed the tea party more unpopular than ever, here was Mary Beth Green arriving in a car with a bumper sticker that read, “I am a Free American.”
Waving a biscuit, Dean Allen said: “When we are demoralized, we get crap like Obama in the White House.” Allen, who is writing a book, titled Rattlesnake Revolution: The Tea Party Strikes, said it was people like him who are the future of the party.

How to Get Started Homeschooling – The Concise Version
- By Holly Sheen
Homeschooling is much easier than you think. A grand aura has been built up around EDUCATION so that most parents are completely intimidated at the thought of teaching their own children. Nevermind that these same parents have been teaching these same children almost everything they know for at least four or five years previous to arriving at ‘school age.’ Tacking on some academics to everything else a parent teaches a child is not that mysterious. Grab a few books, find some like-minded homeschoolers who can give you pointers, figure out the state law, and you are on your way. Yes, it’s that simple.
What is the Reason for the Season?
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Driving home from work tonight through mostly rural Greenville County, I counted eleven churches. I saw no Nativity scenes or any other indication that the celebration of the birth of Jesus was approaching. This is despite the fact that all these churches claim to have a sole mission of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For some unexplained reason, over the years, several important churches have removed any reference to God or Jesus from their signs out front.
What is happening to the organized church? Is it too much trouble to erect a Nativity scene? Are we afraid of offending Muslims or Atheists? Maybe we are just afraid to be bold followers and representatives of Jesus Christ.

Ken Ward Honored for 38-Years Community Service
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
The Tigerville Fire Department honored Charles K. “Ken” Ward and his wife Betty Jean during the annual awards banquet Friday night at North Greenville University. Chief Russell Ledford made the presentation and cited Ward for 38 years of dedicated service as a volunteer firefighter and 22 years as a Fire Commissioner. His commission term ends this month and Ward has decided at age 80 to allow younger firemen to rush out in the middle of the night in all kinds of weather to fight fires and preserve lives. Although he is retiring from official duties, no one expects Ken Ward to sit in a rocking chair at home if his fellow firemen are heading to a fire or assisting a neighbor in distress.

If Convicted, First Offense Carries No Less than 1 year in Prison and No More than 10 years
Greenville County Schools have experienced a rash of bomb threats in recent days. Three high school students have now been arrested and charged with “conveying false information regarding attempted use of a destructive device,” a felony.
On December 17, Eastside High School was evacuated in the morning hours due to a Bomb Threat. A student at the school located the threat which was written on a note and notified school administrators. Once everyone was out of the school, staff conducted a search of the entire school and did not locate any suspicious devices.
The Cholesterol Scam
- By Dr. Joe Carrano
We are told that cholesterol is a major cause of heart disease. At least 40 million Americans are currently taking cholesterol-lowering medications, known as statins, and millions more people are avoiding foods that contain saturated fat and cholesteroL
The basic idea is that dietary saturated fat raises cholesterol levels, and these two substances somehow clog-up our arteries, causing a heart attack.
However, a number of doctors and researchers have been challenging this hypothesis for decades, and the latest heart disease statistics reveal some alarming facts. Such as:
Remember Pearl Harbor!
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
On December 7, 1941, I was 9-years old. It was Sunday. I was sitting in my father’s 1937 Ford in front of my grandfather’s house listening to the car radio when the Pearl Harbor attack was announced. My grandfather did not own a radio or a car. He was a country preacher, farmer and house painter. A horse, buggy, wagon or sled provided his transportation. At the time, he had 8 daughters and 5 sons living. Four of the sons bad served in the military. The oldest, Alonzo, served in France in World War I, Dan had served a tour in the Navy, Jim had served in the Army in the Pacific and Paul had joined the United States Marines and served in Panama, Nicaragua and Haiti. Joe, the youngest, was in his late teens and living at home.

DOD Making Plans to Close Military Commissaries
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Benefit to Troops and Families Second only to Medical Care
The Obama Department of Defense is seriously considering closing all military commissaries as part of the 2015 Defense Budget.
Closing 178 stores in the United States and 70 overseas, the closing would save approximately $1.4 billion annually. Salaries for employees are included in the Defense Budget. Commissary customers pay a 5 percent surcharge on all purchases in the stores to fund construction and maintenance of facilities, equipment and supplies. Titles to the multi-million dollar facilities paid for by troops and their families are donated to the government. It is a good deal for the taxpayers.
WWII Pilot Training A Dangerous Mission
- By James Moore
Hall Remembers his Service during an Unforgettable Time
In remembrance of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor that happened 72 years ago on December 7, I sat down with a WWII vet to get his take on this fateful event.
On the day of the attack, Frank Hall and his friend hitchhiked into town to watch The Last of the Mohicans at the theater. While they were watching the movie a typed messaged was projected on the screen that read, the Japs just bombed Pearl Harbor. Hall remembers that gasps were heard within the darkness and a bunch of people got up and rushed out. At that moment in time Hall didn’t know where Pearl Harbor was located and thought it was a town in China since they had been warring with the Japanese for quite some time. It wasn’t until he phoned his mother that he found out that the attack was on American soil. In shock, he returned home to be with his family and listen to the message from the president urging for Congress to return. Hall was 15 years old at the time.

Sherry Few, founder of South Carolina Parents Involved in Education, addressed the Greenville County Republican Party Executive Committee, Monday night. The topic was “Common Core” education standards.
SCPIE describes Common Core as “an attempt by Washington, D. C. special interest groups and the Federal Government to herd the states, and our children, into one-size-fits-all national standards.”
Happy Thanksgiving!

Despite all the lies, deception and fraud taking place around us, most of us have much to be thankful for. It is my desire to use this space for something positive for a change. So here goes.
I have been blessed to live in this constitutional republic during what I believe have been its greatest years. My generation survived the great depression and came out stronger. We saw parents, uncles and neighbors leave for World War II, defeat the tyrants, and return to fuel the greatest economic engine and produce the highest standard of living the world has ever known.

Veterans Report Problems Despite New Facility
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Veterans without VA Healthcare must Get Obamacare or Have Assessment added to Their Income Tax.
Just a few weeks ago, the Veterans Administration cut the ribbon officially opening the new elaborate Greenville Outpatient Clinic. Politicians, developers and administrators heaped praise on each other on that occasion, however, a Town Hall Meeting held at the facility last Thursday was well attended by veterans with complaints. Their comments indicated that the elaborate clinic may be understaffed and less than responsive to some veterans’ alleged problems and concerns. Information provided regarding Obamacare did not add to the comfort level of most veterans.
Emergency Food Pantry Now Open in Greenville

With one in four children in South Carolina going to bed hungry every night, Harvest Hope commits 98 cents out of every dollar donated to feeding the hungry. The money donated provides emergency food to 20 counties in SC, and every dollar becomes five meals for hungry people in their service area.
On November 21, Harvest Hope celebrated the grand opening of their new Emergency Food Pantry located at 2818 White Horse Road. The Emergency Food Pantry will provide those in need with a 5 to 6 day supply of food. Food packages vary depending on donations, but usually include non-perishable items such as fruit, vegetables, bread, meat, and dried goods. These food packages can provide the basis for balanced and nutritious meals for the families that are served.

“Everybody’s in recovery and nobody’s talking about a cure!”
Winn Freeman believes that those who are imprisoned by addiction don’t have to stay in recovery for the rest of their lives. “You move beyond recovery. That’s where life begins.” He and those who follow his Bible-based training are living examples that it’s training, commitment and discipline, not treatment that leads to a different lifestyle and lasting freedom from addiction to drugs and alcohol.
