Former NGU President George Silver dies at 94

Dr. George Silver, North Greenville University's (NGU) fourth president, died on January 29 in Goldsboro, NC, at 94. He served as North Greenville's president from 1975-1980.
"The entire North Greenville University community is saddened to learn of Dr. Silver's passing," said NGU President Dr. Gene C. Fant, Jr. "He had a remarkable career, making a positive impact on so many lives. We are forever grateful for his contributions and dedication to helping make our University the place it is today. NGU sends its deepest condolences to his family."

NGU Baptist Collegiate Ministry Announces Spring Keynotes

Three world-renowned speakers will be featured at North Greenville University's (NGU) Baptist Collegiate Ministry (BCM) gatherings this spring.
Clayton King, a teaching pastor at NewSpring Church, and his wife Sharie will be featured Thursday, Feb. 18. Dr. Don Wilton, best-selling author, former NGU Trustee, and senior pastor at First Baptist Spartanburg will speak Thursday, March 18. Dr. Johnny Hunt, former president of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) and senior vice president of evangelism and leadership for the North American Mission Board (NAMB), will speak Thursday, March 25. All services are held in Turner Chapel on the Tigerville Campus.

BJU to Host 2021 Bible Conference

Bob Jones University will host its annual Bible Conference Feb. 16-19 on the BJU campus. This year’s theme, “Sanctify Them” from John 17:17 will explore themes of sanctification and what it means to walk daily with the Lord.
“We always look forward to Bible Conference. It provides a great opportunity for spiritual growth and refreshment. This year, with COVID-19 protocols in mind, services will not be open to the public,” said BJU President Steve Pettit.

BJU Programming Team Places First in Regional Competition

A Bob Jones University intercollegiate computer programming team placed first in a regional virtual programming competition on Saturday, Jan. 23.
The programming contest associated with the annual Consortium for Computing Sciences-Southeastern Region (CCSC-SE) regional conference was hosted by the University of North Carolina at Asheville.
Over 30 teams from seven states competed over a three-hour period. The winner was determined by the number of problems solved correctly.

There've been plenty of issues over the last year and a half where Democrats have had to "bring Joe Biden along." Local students graduate in NGU's 2020 December class

North Greenville University graduated the following local students on Friday, December fourth.
Baccalaureate degree students whose cumulative grade point average is at least 3.5 graduates cum laude; those with at least a 3.75 graduate magna cum laude; and those with at least a 3.9-grade point average graduate summa cum laude.

BJU to Webcast Opening Services

Jeremy Frazor, a Bob Jones University graduate, will preach the opening services of BJU’s spring 2021 semester. Services will be held Jan. 12-13 at 7 p.m. in Founder’s Memorial Amphitorium.
“I had the privilege of serving and traveling with Jeremy and his family for several years in itinerant ministry,” said BJU President Steve Pettit. “I have seen firsthand how God uses him to proclaim the Gospel with grace and clarity. These services will help encourage the University family as we embark upon a new semester.”
