Bob Jones University Ranked by U.S. News & World Report

In its 2021 Best College Rankings, U.S. News & World Report recognized Bob Jones University as one of the Best Regional Universities in the South, the second Best Value Regional University in the South, the sixth top performer in Social Mobility among Regional Universities in the South, and seventh in lowest debt load for its graduates among Regional Universities in the South.
Among Regional Universities in the South, BJU is the highest ranked university for Best Value in the Carolinas and the only regional university in the Carolinas featured for low debt load among its graduates.

BJU Holds Army/Air Force ROTC Contracting Ceremony

On the nineteenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Bob Jones University held an Army/Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) contracting ceremony Friday, Sept. 11, at 11 a.m. in Founder’s Memorial Amphitorium.
Launched in 2018, crosstown partnerships with Furman University (Army) and Clemson University (Air Force) allow BJU students to participate in their respective battalions. Cadets under contract receive financial scholarships, a book stipend and a monthly expense stipend.

Miles Coleman to Deliver Constitution Day Lecture

Attorney Miles Coleman, a partner in the Greenville office of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, LLP, will deliver a Constitution Day lecture Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m. in Levinson Hall on the Bob Jones University campus.
Coleman earned a BA in rhetoric and public address from BJU in 2005 and a JD from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2009. While at USC, Coleman served on the editorial staff of the South Carolina Law Review, editor of the Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy’s Symposium 2008 Issue and president of both the Christian Legal Society and the Federalist Society.

Bob Jones University to Commemorate 9/11

On the nineteenth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Bob Jones University will commemorate the 2,977 lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, with a display of American flags at the front of campus.
In addition, a replica of the World Trade Center Cross, one of the most recognizable symbols found in the wreckage of Ground Zero, will be featured at the Wade Hampton entrance. The original steel girder, a 17-foot long crossbeam, became a source of hope to many in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. It is currently on display in the National September 11 Memorial and Museum in New York City.

Bob Jones University 9/11 Flag Display

Tuesday, Sept. 8 – 4 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Bob Jones University students will set up American flags near the Wade Hampton Boulevard entrance to campus on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Each flag will represent one of the 2,977 victims—from 115 countries—who perished in the 2001 terrorist attacks. The students will begin assembling the display Tuesday at 4 p.m. and it will remain in place through the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 15.

BJU Board of Trustees Renews President Pettit's Contract

Dr. John Lewis, chairman of the Bob Jones University Board of Trustees, announced today the renewal of Dr. Steve Pettit’s contract as president of BJU through June 1, 2023. Pettit’s contract was previously renewed in 2017.
“Dr. Pettit has been an exemplary leader of BJU and has led through important initiatives such as BJU’s attaining regional accreditation and becoming a tax-exempt organization,” Lewis said. “Pettit has been at the forefront of providing spiritual leadership to the faculty, staff and students through chapel and a focus on infusing a biblical worldview in our classrooms.”
