INDEPENDENT CONSERVATIVE VOICE OF UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA FOR 30+ YRS

INDEPENDENT CONSERVATIVE VOICE OF
UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA FOR OVER 30 YEARS!

Eagle Forum joined dozens of like-minded organizations on a coalition letter urging Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) to use the rules and processes that govern the U.S. Senate to pass the SAVE America Act (S. 3752). Engaging in a “talking” filibuster would allow open dialogue and debate on the merits of the SAVE America Act and would permit the bill to be passed by a simple majority of 51 votes. This can be done without changing the Senate rules by forcing the opponents to filibuster the legislation.

The letter states that “election integrity is crucial to our democracy and enjoys broad public support.” The SAVE America Act would establish voter identification requirements for federal elections and prohibit non-citizens from voting. Recent polling by Heritage Action found that over 70% of Americans oppose non-citizens voting in our elections and the Pew Research Center found that a vast majority of voters across the aisle favor requiring identification to vote. Our lawmakers must strike while the iron is hot.

“Passing the SAVE America Act is long overdue,” stated Kris Ullman, President of Eagle Forum. “Americans want to be able to trust our election system and know that requiring proof of citizenship and voter ID helps to rebuild that trust. We urge Senate Republicans to use all the resources available to overcome obstructionists and enact this important bill.”
