Emergency Food Pantry Now Open in Greenville
- Details
- By James Moore
With one in four children in South Carolina going to bed hungry every night, Harvest Hope commits 98 cents out of every dollar donated to feeding the hungry. The money donated provides emergency food to 20 counties in SC, and every dollar becomes five meals for hungry people in their service area.
On November 21, Harvest Hope celebrated the grand opening of their new Emergency Food Pantry located at 2818 White Horse Road. The Emergency Food Pantry will provide those in need with a 5 to 6 day supply of food. Food packages vary depending on donations, but usually include non-perishable items such as fruit, vegetables, bread, meat, and dried goods. These food packages can provide the basis for balanced and nutritious meals for the families that are served.

Winn Freeman “The Drug Guy”: Living Example of God’s Power and Grace
Reprint April 4, 2007
“Everybody’s in recovery and nobody’s talking about a cure!”
Winn Freeman believes that those who are imprisoned by addiction don’t have to stay in recovery for the rest of their lives. “You move beyond recovery. That’s where life begins.” He and those who follow his Bible-based training are living examples that it’s training, commitment and discipline, not treatment that leads to a different lifestyle and lasting freedom from addiction to drugs and alcohol.

Greenville County Opens Unique Juvenile Detention Facility
- Details
- By James "Chip" Moore

A goal set by Greenville County in 2004 has finally come to fruition with the opening of the Juvenile Detention Facility and State Operated Assessment Center. The facility that was used to house work release inmates is now being used to bring together different agencies that will give Greenville County juveniles the best possible help that is offered. The facility is being hailed as a “one of its kind” support system unlike anything in the Southeast.
“The Greenville County Juvenile Detention Facility connected with the state operated assessment center is going to be a very successful program. We’ve brought together multiple agencies, placed them in a shared location allowing them to share resources while creating the best possible environment for at risk children and their families,” said Joe Kernell, Greenville County Administrator.
