SC Pastors Back Personhood Constitutional Amendment
- By Richard Cash
The South Carolina Pastors Alliance (SCPA) was the featured guest at a June 2nd press conference held by Sen. Lee Bright to promote a bill (S719, H4093), that if passed, will put a personhood constitutional amendment question on the November, 2016, general election ballot. The press conference was held in the second floor lobby of the Statehouse, between the Senate and House chambers, and was well-attended. After welcoming a group of legislators and pastors to the press conference, Sen. Bright turned it over to SCPA president, Dr. Kevin Baird of Charleston.
Dr. Baird founded the SCPA to help pastors engage the culture with Biblical values, and it was clear that he was very well versed in the fight to protect preborn life beginning at conception. Pastor Baird began with some general comments about life and abortion, stating that, “Every generation has a justice issue and ours is the place and the rights of the preborn. . . Abortion has been the national sore on this nation for 42 years. And the time has come to move courageously and expeditiously to right a wrong that we have allowed to exist for far too long.” He then zeroed in on the crucial issue by explaining, “In 1973 the majority opinion of the infamous Roe v. Wade decision left an open door to define in the future when a preborn baby could be considered legally a person. . . Today, biology, technology, ethics, and theology all agree that the preborn baby is a person from its earliest moments, even conception.”

Durocher Family Band Bring Bluegrass/Gospel Ministry to S.C.
- By Jeff West
The Durocher Family Band recently blessed South Carolina with their music ministry. The Durocher Family is a family band led by Paul and Judy Durocher, parents of twelve homeschooled children, nine of whom compose their bluegrass/gospel band. Together all eleven of them travel around the country in a motorhome, performing their music and spreading the gospel. They also present a ministry through their example of being homeschooled. The Durochers recently played at Rev. E. Ray Moore’s Exodus Mandate ministry banquet, and later at Rev. Moore’s church in Columbia. The Durocher Family is extremely talented, playing a mixture of predominantly Christian songs, some originals which they have written and arranged, along with traditional bluegrass standards. They have wonderful harmonies and instrumentation, blending banjo, mandolin, fiddle, guitar, bass and cello to produce beautiful music praising God.

Frontline Ministries Holds 20th Anniversary Banquet
- By Jeff West
Frontline Ministries and Exodus Mandate held its 20th Anniversary banquet on Friday night, November 14 at Brookland Baptist Church in West Columbia. The event was well-attended by a large crowd of approximately 240 people. The celebration commemorated twenty years of Rev. E. Ray and Gail Moore’s ministry to promote Christian schools and homeschooling. Frontline Ministries was co-founded by Ray Moore and Lee Adams. God blessed the Moores with the foresight to homeschool their own children forty years ago to escape the indoctrination of the anti-Christian agenda promoted by government schools. Seeing the success of their own efforts, they started their own ministry to educate and encourage other Christian couples regarding the importance of providing a Christian education for their children.

Missionary Honored for 50 yrs. Service
- By Terry M. Thacker
How would you like to fight off giant spiders? How about eating lizards, rats and grub worms? Or perhaps be lowered from a helicopter into the arms of naked cannibals? Want more? How about staring down the business end of a rifle, encountering witch doctors and pulling teeth with pliers?
Margaret Stringer, a missionary for fifty years, forty of which were spent in the jungles of Papua, Indonesia, experienced all these things and more.
This past Saturday, Stringer's home church, Freedom Baptist, which is located in the Berea section of Greenville, held a special service in honor of her five decades of dedicated service unto the Lord. About 200 people were in attendance to help her celebrate her big day. Family members from as far away as Arizona came for the event.
