An Upstate legislative delegation might have skirted the state’s open-meetings law last year by privately recommending to the governor candidates for a Department of Transportation Commission seat, The Nerve found in a review.

In interviews this week, Greenville County GOP Reps. Mike Burns and Garry Smith said the Greenville and Spartanburg county legislative delegations each sent a letter to Gov. Henry McMaster supporting a different candidate for the 4^th Congressional District seat currently held by Woodrow “Woody” Willard.

Illegal Immigrants Crossing 2019

The Axios website purported to tell readers yesterday “why the migrant crisis is happening now” at the southwest frontier of the United States.

Some of what it reported is right. Some of it wrong.

But one thing the writer did correctly assess, if for the wrong reason, is the situation. It is a crisis ... for Americans.

This week the House of Representatives votes on H.R. 2500 or the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2020 (NDAA) and the Speier Amendment. Although, the NDAA is necessary to fund our nation’s defense Democrats have insisted on using the legislation to advance their anti-Trump and gender redefining agenda.

As families across the nation are celebrating the United States’ independence, some are bracing themselves for the contentious topic of politics to be brought up at the weekend cookout. While these conversations may be distressing for some and enjoyable for others, we can all be thankful that our founding fathers established a nation where we can speak freely and disagree with others. However, freedom of speech is not always a given, especially on college campuses.
