Dangerous Data-Mining Bill on President’s Desk!
- By Eagle Forum
Our privacy is currently at stake! The Senate used the lame duck session to ram through the Foundations for Evidence-Based Policymaking Act (H.R. 4174) that will take our personal data and spread it across all federal agencies.
H.R. 4174 was originally crafted by Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) and passed the House by a voice vote only. Leadership claimed that this bill would result in a safe evaluation of federal programs, but they failed to mention the dangerous privacy consequences that could result from such an undertaking. The Senate, after holding the bill for a year until after the election due to widespread citizen outrage, was fooled as well, and again, by a voice vote, passed the bill onto President Trump to sign.

The Senate on Friday was scrambling to take up a spending package with billions in funding for a border wall, as President Trump made clear there’s a “good chance” for a partial government shutdown at midnight.
The House on Thursday approved $5.7 billion for a border wall as part of a measure to fund the government through early February. But the Senate on Friday afternoon was struggling to overcome a procedural hurdle to even set up a vote on the bill, amid Democrats’ refusal to give in on a border wall.

Bill Would Divert Gas-Tax-Hike Money to Interstate Widening Projects
- By Rick Brundrett - The Nerve
A proposal by a longtime S.C. senator would siphon millions from a main source of gas-tax-hike revenues that lawmakers promised would go toward fixing the state’s crumbling roads and bridges, and instead earmark that money for widening interstates.
It also could be a way around what the state transportation chief previously has described as a funding problem for interstate projects because of pending court challenges.

Congress Must Fund a Border Wall!
- By Eagle Forum
Both the House and Senate will vote this week on the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) appropriations bill. Lawmakers have the ability to allocate funding for the border wall in this bill, but it is being blocked by Democrats. Republicans are also giving up on the fight. Leadership has punted this issue for far too long.
Eagle Forum, along with several prominent conservative groups, has signed onto the following letter written by the Conservative Action Project to urge Congress and President Trump to protect the American people:
