Tony Trout Killed in Accident

Greenville County Councilman and Convicted Felon
Tony Trout was killed in a fall from a tree on the evening of 25 July 2018. Trout was a former Greenville County Councilman who made history and changed Greenville County government significantly.
Trout and two other candidates who were unknown to local Republicans were recruited by Democrats who had been unable to pass an ordinance requiring Greenville County to require the county to give county employees a paid holiday honoring the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King.
The Republican majority of Greenville County Council had refused to be forced to pass the paid holiday because no other person other than presidents of the United States was honored with a paid holiday. Democrats took advantage of the unpopular South Carolina open primary system that allows Democrats to vote in Republican primaries. They openly urged democrats to cross over party lines and vote for Democrats running as Republicans. Trout narrowly won the Republican Primary over Steve Selby with cross over Democrats and a few other non-Republican votes.
The Great Adjustment

Two weeks ago, The Times Examiner published its last full sheet hard copy newspaper. The Palmetto State conservative family newspaper is now all digital and available on the internet only. This has been a great adjustment for the entire staff of the newspaper. We no longer need the news racks located across the county from Merietta to Greer and Mauldin. We no longer make a weekly trip to the post office, where we will miss our friends Mary and her team who have been very helpful in many ways.
Give President Trump a Break

Both friend and foe are attacking President Trump regarding his meeting with Russian leader Putin today. They fail to realize that he is a gentleman in public and makes threats in private. Based on his past performance, I would speculate that the President publicly was nice to Putin. It was not productive to insult him in public and create an enemy that would find it necessary to retaliate in kind. We do not know what was said in private and do not need to know. My belief is that President Trump told Putin in private that he had proof of what his people and the Democrats did during the past election and probably showed him the proof.
Fourth District Republicans Should Not Be Complacent
- Details

Republicans in the Fourth Congressional District have chosen William Timmons to be their candidate in the November 2018 General Election. Timmons defeated strongly conservative Lee Bright in the Republican Primary. Timmons appears to be an establishment Republican and a supporter of Senator Lindsey Graham. He is not popular among traditional conservative groups. Timmons replaced State Senator Mike Fair in the Senate but has served only part of one term in Columbia.
