PA Medicine Holds White Coat, Hooding Ceremonies for Cohorts

The North Greenville University (NGU) School of Allied Health Professions (SOAHP) held its annual white coat and hooding ceremonies for the Master of Medical Science in PA Studies on Friday, December 10, in Turner Chapel on the school's Tigerville Campus.
Dr. Jordan Hairr, associate dean for the School of Allied Health Professions and Physician Assistant (PA) program director, was among the school's leaders who greeted the 59 PA students, friends, and family members in attendance.
"We are excited to be able to honor both cohorts of students in a joint ceremony and share their accomplishments with everyone here," said Hairr.
The hooding ceremony recognizes the Cohort of 2021's accomplishments, which graduated from the program during commencement exercises that evening.

Sands Encourages NGU December Graduates to Pursue Life, not a Lifestyle

North Greenville University (NGU) held its December Commencement Exercises on Friday, December 10, on the Tigerville Campus. Pastor of Kingdom Life Church in Simpsonville and President Emeritus of the South Carolina Baptist Convention Dr. Alex Sands addressed the 196 undergraduate and graduate students, family, and friends.
Following the processional of the administration, faculty, and candidates, NGU President Dr. Gene C. Fant, Jr. welcomed all honored guests and read from Isaiah 40.
NGU Board Chair Dr. Mike Hamlett led the invocation. Associate Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Science and Chair of the English Department Dr. Cheryl Collier read 1 Peter 2:9-12. The NGU Brass Ensemble provided music.

NGU Board Approves Renovations to University's Historic Administration Building

The North Greenville University (NGU) Board of Trustees and Board Chair Dr. Mike Hamlet enthusiastically thanked the leadership, faculty, staff, and students for successfully navigating a unique year at their October meeting.
Board Chair Hamlet said the trustees celebrated that NGU had a very productive year amid the challenging circumstances connected with COVID 19.
"Not only were we grateful for the work of our university this past year, but we are excited about the future in so many areas," said Hamlet. "Our approval of the renovation of the Donnan Administrative building is a clear indicator that North Greenville has a very bright future."

Alex Sands to Address NGU December Graduates

Alex Sands, pastor of Kingdom Life Church in Simpsonville, will be the keynote speaker for North Greenville University's (NGU) Commencement Dec. 10 in Turner Chapel on the Tigerville Campus.
"At North Greenville University, we are producing transformational leaders for church and society. Alex Sands is a transformational leader, whose influence over the churches of the South Carolina Baptist Convention has been exemplary and the engagement between his church and the surrounding community has been remarkable," said NGU President Dr. Gene C. Fant, Jr. "I can't think of a better speaker to have for our graduates as they are launched with their degrees. I'm sure his message will be simultaneously challenging, inspiring, and insightful."

BJU Invites Community to Annual Christmas Celebration

Bob Jones University invites the Greenville community to the annual Christmas Celebration Friday, Dec. 3, from 4-8 p.m. on the BJU campus.
“We are thankful for the return of our annual carol sing and campus lighting. It is important to remind ourselves of the true meaning of Christmas as we usher in the holiday season,” said BJU President Steve Pettit. “The community is invited to join us for a memorable evening full of activities for everyone.”
Major Sarah Whitten, director of Paladin Battalion (U.S. Army ROTC), will join President Pettit at the Christmas Lighting and Carol Sing Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. in front of Rodeheaver Auditorium. Pettit will read the Christmas story and the event will culminate with the official lighting of over 100,000 Christmas lights. The full schedule of activities and musical events with beginning times is listed below. Most activities will be open until 8 p.m.

Tigerville Christmas Parade Returns Saturday, December 4

Tigerville residents will host their second annual Christmas Festival on Saturday, Dec. 4. Following a very successful inaugural event in 2020, organizers invite the Upstate to join in the holiday event which will be highlighted by a Christmas Parade on Tigerville Road.
The festival, starting at 10 a.m., will feature a variety of food options and music as guests assemble for the 11 a.m. parade, which proceeds north from the Highway 414 and Highway 253 intersection to Tigerville Elementary School Road then back east and south to Highway 414. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Tigerville Fire Department.
