Library Board Votes to Move Books
- Details
- By Terry M. Thacker

The Greenville County Library Board voted this past Monday to make a controversial change to its Collection, Development and Maintenance policy concerning books deemed objectionable by a large portion of the community.
Books that “celebrate, portray or affirm gender transitioning, whether the changes are social or physical,” will be moved from the young adult (13-17) section of the library to the adult section.
This policy change does not remove the books from the library. Parents will still be able to check these materials out for their children. However, minors will no longer be able to check these books out on their own unless they have a card authorized by their parents that would allow them to do so.

Eradicating poverty is the most popular excuse for the expansion of government power. It’s a crisis! Someone must do something! How can a civilized people allow their fellow humans to go hungry?
The statistics on global poverty are staggering. According to the United Nations Millennium Project, there are currently 1.2 billion people living in poverty. Fifty thousand deaths per day occur worldwide as a result of poverty. Every year more than ten million children die of hunger and preventable diseases. More than half of the world’s population lives on less than $2 per day and 800 million people go to bed hungry every night.

Biden’s Beef with the Supreme Court

Joe Biden’s time in the White House is almost up, but that hasn’t stopped him from pushing his usual far-left agenda. The Washington Post published an opinion piece by President Biden at the end of July in which he calls for radical changes to the Supreme Court. While in it he doesn’t call for court packing, the plan is a political attack on the Judicial branch in response to several “dangerous and extreme decisions that overturn settled legal precedents — including Roe v. Wade.” In other words, when the left does not get what it wants, it resolves to destroy the institution.

The Latest from the Freedom Index Tool

Do you know how your U.S. representative and senators voted on constitutionally important bills this year?
Learn how they voted by reading the third “Freedom Index” for the 118th Congress, which was published in the July 29, 2024 issue of The New American magazine. Also, please print and distribute our Congressional Scorecards, which are an easy way to inform others about how your congressmen are voting.
We live at a time when our federal government routinely usurps powers not granted to it by the Constitution. This is leading to an increasingly out-of-control Big Government that routinely infringes on our basic rights (property rights, privacy rights, religious liberties, right to bear arms, etc.). These infringements have grown worse with the Covid-19 overreach, climate-change tyranny, and Great Reset implementation that are betraying the very foundation of our Republic.
