Oratory for a Time Such as This
- By W.H. Lamb
(With Apologies to William Shakespeare)

(Reference: “JULIUS CAESAR” by William Shakespeare, Act. 111, Scene 11).
PATRIOTS, AMERICANS, COUNTRYMEN, LISTEN TO ME.
I COME TO EXPOSE THE TRUTH, NOT TO BURY IT.
THE EVIL THAT LIBERALS DO LIVES AFTER THEM,
WHEN IT SHOULD BE BURIED WITH THEIR BONES.
SO SHOULD IT BE WITH ALL COLLECTIVISTS.
THE IGNOBLE BRUTES HAVE TOLD YOU THAT AMERICANISTS ARE DANGEROUS;
THIS IS NOT SO, IT IS A GRIEVOUS FAULT,
AND GRIEVOUSLY HAVE WE BEEN MALIGNED.

Remembering Ernie Pyle (A Man of Whom Most Have Never Heard)
- By W.H. Lamb
As I recall, April 12, 1945 was a mild and sunny day in the west side suburb of Cleveland, Ohio where I lived in those long-gone days. World War 11 (that’s “2” for those of you who are Roman numeral “impaired”) was still raging across the Pacific region of the world, even while it appeared to have almost ended in Europe. I was a typical almost nine-year-old in those wonderful times, outside most of the day (except during the coldest days of winter), playing baseball almost every day during the summer, riding my bike, and interacting with my neighborhood “gang” of six or eight preteen guys just like me. If you’ve ever seen that great film, “A Christmas Story”, you’ll know exactly how much of my childhood was spent. Exactly! The author of that book could have been a member of my “gang”. (And yes, I DID drink “Ovaltine”, I DID listen to ‘Little Orphan Annie” on the radio, and I DID have one of her “decoder rings”.)

Conservatives, Liberals & Patriotism: A Retrospective Appraisal
- By W.H. Lamb
(Based on an Article by the Author in The Times Examiner October 10, 2001)
Almost twenty years ago, The Times Examiner published my article under the same title (without the “retrospective” portion). As part of my usual research, I came across this old writing and was intrigued by it. How much of what I wrote then, I wondered, had changed, and how much had stayed the same? I’m going to use my original words (emboldened in ‘black’), with any new thoughts printed in the normal shade of black). Let’s see what, if anything, has changed over those intervening years.

“Because”: A Fond Recollection
- By W.H. Lamb

Those of you who have read my articles, both in the now extinct print version of The Times Examiner (from 1999 to July of 2018), and in the new digital version (since July of 2018), know that I’m somewhat of an “eclectic” writer. I have many different interests and I enjoy writing about some of them and sharing them with you. In that regard I consider myself to be something of a “renaissance” man, one who enjoys delving into different facets of history and the human experience, into mankind’s political and social foibles and noble accomplishments, into the artistic and cultural achievements of my fellow human beings who, during their sometimes far-too-brief pilgrimage through life, brought beauty, joy, great art and music, great literature, and various forms of cultural enrichment to us, their fellow pilgrims, all of which have instilled tears of joy and happiness and even pathos into our lives as we beheld their artistries and their struggled-for accomplishments.

I Pledge Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and to the Democracy for Which It Stands!
- By W.H. Lamb
Wait just a moment. Something sounds “off” in the title to this article. “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the U.S.”…O.K. that’s right. “…and to the democracy for which it stands”. That sounds---hold on, that sounds wrong. Doesn’t the Pledge say, “…To the REPUBLIC for which it stands”? Come to think of it, it does! Was Rev. Francis Bellamy (a ‘Christian socialist and the author of our P.O.A.) wrong when he used the word “republic” rather than “democracy”? If the word ‘democracy’ means the same as ‘republic’ what’s the big deal? Au contraire, mon ami ou m’amie, the two words-- ‘Democracy and Republic’ have OPPOSITE meanings in the realm of governmental forms, and to assume equal meanings can lead a person—or a nation—into major troubles! Let’s delve into this confusion in more detail.

When A Deed Is Done For Freedom
- By W.H. Lamb
James Lowell (1819-1891) opened his epic 1844 poem, “The Present Crisis,” with lines #1 and #2:
“When a deed is done for Freedom, through the broad earth’s aching
breast, Runs a thrill of joy prophetic, trembling on from east to west.”
People throughout the world may have a different perception of “freedom” -- i.e. what it means to them – how they define it. The Oxford Dictionary includes what I consider to be several pertinent definitions:
- The power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants;
- The absence of subjection to foreign domination or despotic government;
- The power of self-determination attributed to the will; the quality of being independent of fate or necessity.

You Might Be A Liberal If …
- By W.H. Lamb

In the Year of our Lord, 2021, our American nation finds itself (well, at least its citizens do) virtually split down the middle over “politics”; more specifically split down the middle between those who call themselves “conservatives”, who honor and respect the “old ways” of freedom under law, and limited government, that were codified by our Founders in our Constitution and transmitted to all of mankind through the centuries by God’s Eternal Word (our Holy Bible), and those who call themselves modern “liberals” (both theological and political), who essentially reject almost everything that conservatives believe in and honor—especially limited Constitutional government and Biblical Christianity.

The Democrat Party Is Now “The Klan of New Bolsheviks,” And Is A Deadly Enemy Of Our Freedoms!
- By W.H. Lamb

Now why would I accuse our “old time” Democrat Party of being a ‘deadly enemy of our freedoms’? Isn’t this the same old Democrat Party of our fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers? Yes, pretty much. Isn’t this the same Democrat Party that fought AGAINST women’s right to vote from 1878 through 1919, and even opposed the Women’s Suffrage Amendment (19th) in 1920 until “Kaiser Woodrow Wilson”, as he was mockingly called by most Americans--the racist Democrat POTUS-- finally saw the handwriting on the wall and decided to bow to Republican pressure and endorse women’s suffrage? Yes, it is.

Our Patria
- By W.H. Lamb

The ancient Romans were a pretty smart bunch, until they started worshipping big government. One of my favorite ancient Roman writers is Marcus Tullius Cicero (106 B.C.--43 B.C.). A noted lawyer and unfailing defender of the dying Roman Republic, he was a keen observer of the decline leading to the ultimate death of that Republic, and was eventually killed by the Roman version of total government in the form of the legions of Marc Antony. Before Cicero chose the wrong dictator to serve, he wrote these famous words: “Patria est communis omnium parens”, which means—“The fatherland is the common parent of us all”. I’m sure that most of us would agree with this sentiment, but just what is our “fatherland”?

Honoria Revisited – Remembering The Late, Great Patriot, Taylor Caldwell
- By W.H. Lamb
LIVING AMONG THE “RUINS”

Alongside the road to Beaufort, S.C., near Yemassee, stand the still imposing ruins of Old Sheldon Church. Originally built between 1745 and 1753, it was used by American patriots during our Revolutionary War to store arms; hence it was burned down by the British in 1779, and rebuilt in 1826. Tradition has claimed that it was again burned and gutted by the marauding devils from General Sherman’s army of pillagers and despoilers during The War For Southern Independence, but fairly recent evidence in a letter from an on site visitor in 1866 claims that Old Sheldon was NOT burned down in 1865 by Yankees but was gutted by the locals after that war, and its materials used all over Beaufort, S.C.

Are You Concerned Over Our Current “Dilemma”? – Part 2
- By W.H. Lamb
Last time we concluded that our current “dilemma” (at least one of them) is the decision that each of us makes as to whether or not to allow ourselves to be vaccinated with one of the Covid-19 vaccines which have been swiftly brought into use. It isn’t necessarily whether or not the current batch of Covid-19 vaccines may or may not have long term effects which are difficult, if not impossible, to predict at this point in time. From what I’ve read, the current C-19 vaccines may be effective indefinitely, OR might only have a useful anti-body producing life measured in months, rather than years or decades, as are most vaccines. There are differences of opinion on this matter, even among the scientists who are working on them. I, for one, will resist being vaccinated with one of these semi-experimental vaccines to the best of my ability for as long as possible.

Are You Concerned Over Our Current “Dilemma”? – Part 1
- By W.H. Lamb
What dilemma is that, you may ask? Well, it’s the one hanging over all of our heads, like a sinister “Sword of Damocles” ready to release its stroke upon the mostly unsuspecting, totally undereducated, and overly-trusting American people. We are now faced with a dilemma that few Americans living today have ever experienced. It appears that the globalists of the world—and particularly the treasonous “deep staters” here in the U.S.—are increasingly “recommending”, and not-so-subtly beginning to demand—that almost the ENTIRE WORLD, and especially all of the American people, must be VACCINATED to “protect them” against the Chinese Covid-19 virus. The “dilemma”, of course, is the decision that each of us must make as to whether or not to allow ourselves to be vaccinated with these rapidly developed and barely past “experimental” vaccines. Put me in the “REFUSE” column.

Satan’s War on Christianity and Christians Is Alive and Well
- By W.H. Lamb

“Tolerance is the last virtue of a depraved society”!
(Rev. D. James Kennedy (1930-2007), late President of Coral Ridge Ministries, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.)
During his life and ministry, Dennis James Kennedy was one of my “heroes of the faith”. Thirteen years after his death in 2007, he still is one of my greatest faith heroes. Once, he said: “When you have an immoral society that has blatantly, proudly, violated all of the Commandments of God, there is one last virtue they insist upon: Tolerance for their immorality.” Truer words have seldom been spoken, because this sick and warped “tolerance” for immorality and hatred of Christianity and real Christians has been infecting our national culture with increasing ferocity over recent decades and, in fact, this hatred has been in the forefront of the plans pushed by those who have proclaimed allegiance to their leftist/progressive/socialist dogma at least since the late 18th century.

One Nation Under God? - Part 2
- By W.H. Lamb

Last time we opened this discussion with arguments on the premise that the U.S.A. was originally founded as a Christian (or at least a Christian-oriented) nation, and I used a series of historic “proofs” for that contention as presented by Dr. David Gibbs, Jr., President of The Christian Law Association, in his book, One Nation Under God. I refer you to last’s week’s Part 1 of this article for a review of Dr. Gibb’s points, that indeed America was founded as at least a Christian oriented nation, and that most of her Founders were historic Christians and were NOT “DEISTS”, as proposed by many of the modern left wing brain damaged enemies of God and Country that infest our nation, with their progressive and unconstitutional agendas of violence and the long-sought Marxist overthrow of our historic Constitutional Republic—agendas which will surely be pushed with increased vigor now that the Klan of New Bolsheviks—and its two soon-to-be-anointed “leaders”—Comrades Sleazy Joe and Kommie-La—has supposedly won a “fair” election, protests to the contrary by President Trump and his supporters, notwithstanding.

One Nation Under God? Part 1
- By W.H. Lamb

“There is no doubt that this is a nation which was built upon the Christian faith—that the Lord, indeed, was the God of this nation, that it was founded upon the principles of God’s Word, upon the teachings of Christianity, and for the advancement of the Kingdom of Christ. All these things are well documented, in the charters of the original colonies, in the original compacts (like the famous Mayflower Compact), covenants, and constitutions. When the Supreme Court looked into the matter in 1892, poring over all the original documents, they concluded with one unanimous, unambiguous voice: ‘This is a Christian nation.’” (REV. D. JAMES KENNEDY)

Why Should We “Support Our Local Police And Keep Them Independent?”
- By W.H. Lamb
Why Shouldn’t We Despise And Defund Them, As The Enemies Of Our Constitutional Republic Desire?

58 years ago, in 1963, Americans began to hear the first beginnings of the clarion call that has become a crescendo of common sense and needful action: “SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL POLICE, AND KEEP THEM INDEPENDENT”! The man responsible for formulating this concept in the long list of freedom-preserving “actions” was the late patriot, Robert Welch, Founder in 1958 of one of the oldest and most effective organizations dedicated to the proposition that the Constitutional Liberties and Safeguards formulated by our Founding Generation were not up for grabs and were not to be negotiated away upon the altar of “world government”-- THE JOHN BIRCH SOCIETY.
