Local students graduate in NGU's Spring Class of 2022

North Greenville University (NGU) celebrated the achievements of 325 graduates as they received their degrees during the university’s Spring Commencement on April 29 in Melvin and Dollie Younts Stadium on the Tigerville Campus.
During the evening ceremony, NGU President Dr. Gene C. Fant, Jr., conferred 294 candidates for bachelor’s degrees and 31 candidates for graduate degrees.
Dan Adams, co-founder of The Capital Corporation in Greenville and one of the Southeast’s largest and most influential merger and acquisition boutiques, was the keynote speaker for the ceremony.
Baccalaureate degree students whose cumulative grade point average is at least 3.5 graduate Cum Laude; those with at least 3.75 graduate Magna Cum Laude, and those with at least 3.9-grade point average graduate Summa Cum Laude.

NGU School of Communication restructures ‘to teach timeless principles for 21st-century challenges’

The North Greenville University School of Communication in the College of Communication and Fine Arts (CCFA) will begin offering an updated slate of majors for Fall 2022, including new concentrations of study in film, strategic communication, and sports media.
The School will have two majors for the new academic year: digital media, with concentrations in broadcast, film, journalism, and sports, and strategic communication, with concentrations in public relations, communication studies, and media ministry.

Class of 2022 Graduates from Bob Jones Academy

Bob Jones Academy Head of School Dr. Doug Abels addressed the 89 graduates of Bob Jones Academy during the 94th commencement exercises which were held in Rodeheaver Auditorium on the BJU campus Thursday, May 12, at 2 p.m.
Abels previously served as head of school at Killian Hill Christian School outside of Atlanta, Georgia. He holds a bachelor’s in math education, a master’s in secondary education, and a doctorate in educational leadership from Bob Jones University. Prior to his tenure at Killian Hill Christian School, Abels spent 20 years at Harvest Christian Academy in Guam where he taught math and science and became the Minister of Education over the K–12 school.

Bob Jones Academy Students Perform Well at VEX World Championship

Bob Jones Academy Middle School students represented the state of South Carolina at the VEX Robotics World Championships held May 3-5, in Dallas, Texas. BJA students competed against over 500 teams. The action-packed competition required middle school students to execute the 2021-2022 VEX Robotics Competition game, Tipping Point presented by the Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation.
To prepare for the tournament, the group worked together to design, build, and program a robot using VEX V5, that could quickly and efficiently solve specific challenges that come with playing the 2021-2022 VEX Robotics Competition game, Tipping Point.

BJU Holds Criminal Justice Challenge Coin Ceremony

Bob Jones University hosted the ninth annual Criminal Justice Challenge Coin Ceremony Thursday, May 5, for 2022 graduates of BJU’s criminal justice program. The ceremony was held in Levinson Hall on the BJU campus.
During the ceremony, graduating seniors were presented with a BJU Criminal Justice Challenge Coin. The front of the coin is imprinted with the phrase “Standing Valiantly for Christ” and an emblazoned banner stamped with Romans 3:14. The reverse side bears the name of the University and the BJU crest which symbolizes the heritage and biblical worldview which are foundational to our liberal arts education and character development in preparation for effective service to Christ and the community.

NGU Celebrates Class of 2022 at Spring Commencement

North Greenville University (NGU) celebrated the achievements of 325 graduates as they received their degrees during the university’s Spring Commencement on April 29 in Melvin and Dollie Younts.
During the evening ceremony, NGU President Dr. Gene C. Fant, Jr. conferred 294 candidates for bachelor’s degrees and 31 graduate degrees.
After a welcome by President Fant, Mandie Boyd (’05), chair of the NGU Board of Trustees, led the invocation.
“Let me be the first to congratulate you on behalf of the Board of Trustees of North Greenville University for your graduation today,” Chair Boyd said. “I was where you are 17 years ago. One thing I can promise you is whatever life plan you have for yourself today, it will take a detour. But what I can also promise you is that God is faithful, and he will remain consistent and ready for you to draw close.”
