We’ve all heard that sage observation that “getting old isn’t for the faint of heart, or for wimps”. At the age of 83, I can verify the truth of that wisdom, as the “aches and pains” of the years constantly do battle with me. Each week I seem to discover new joints that I never knew I had, and getting “started” in the morning is becoming a painful challenge. Younger folks sometimes question the abilities of “experienced” seniors, but are themselves often in a mental fog when we relate historical events that are perfectly clear to us, even though they may have occurred decades previously. (True history is a “foreign concept” to many of our younger citizens, sadly.)

Choose Wisely on Nov. 3, Because Your Life May Depend on It!
I wrote a version of this article for The Times Examiner just before the November, 2016 presidential election. I warned my readers then of the serious threats to the loss of our constitutional freedoms if the treacherous and anti-American Democrat ticket, led by Comrade Hillary Clinton, was victorious. Thankfully, despite the best illegal efforts of that Klan of New Bolsheviks to threaten and lie their way into the White House, the American people elected Donald Trump, and at least the worst potential for the trashing of our republic was averted for a time. Now the still somewhat free but increasingly frustrated and fearful citizens of the U.S. are faced with a looming cultural catastrophe so serious and so potentially devastating to our freedom that it must be considered as nothing short of the potential termination of our battered republic as it has existed under the U.S. Constitution since 1787 should the Klan of New Bolsheviks (formerly called Democrats) take control of the White House and both houses of Congress. Yes, it IS that serious!

Where Should Christian Patriots Set Their “Hearts And Minds”?

“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” - Colossians 3:1-2 (N.I.V.)
God’s Word seems clear enough on the surface. Christians, at least, are cautioned to not overly concern themselves with what goes on “in the world”, because while we are “in” the world, we are not to be a part “of” the world (or as some teach—the world “system”). The implications these admonitions have for Christians who have some degree of concern for what happens in the world—and especially the country-- in which we live have been cause for disputations and hurt feelings and possibly misinterpretations of motives for generations, and even more so in our present society, which appears to be rapidly disintegrating around us, as the once strong influence of Christianity obviously is waning in our country due to the indifference of many who call themselves “Christian”, at the same time that the “Satanic Disciples of Godless Socialism” are infesting our body politic, shredding our culture, rampaging and pillaging in many of our cities, and who appear to be in the ascendency (but they aren’t).

Mars Is Not The “Red” Planet – Earth Is!

Yes, I know. Mars is called the “Red Planet”. Over the past few decades we’ve seen some phenomenal pictures from the various NASA “Vikings”, “Mariners”, “Pathfinders”, and “Rovers”, those intrepid little explorers who send back great panoramas and detailed photos of Mars over 200 million miles or more back to Earth. As Mr. Spock from Star Trek might observe: “Fascinating”! But when I observe the “color” of Planet Earth, I’m referring to the “color” of its prevailing political structures, which are heavily skewed to the collectivist/socialist hue---RED (the despicable socialist commies are not known as “blues”, are they?) But, you say—everyone knows that “communism” is dead over most of the world, with the exceptions of China, Russia, North Korea, Cuba, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Mongolia, Ethiopia and---well, it might still be “twitching” here and there, but it is dead or dying over most of the world. Right? Well, I hate to disillusion you, but in reality there has never been a real “communist” country anywhere in the history of the world!

The “Gaspee Affair” of 1772: The First Blow for Freedom – Part 2

Last time we discovered a little known (or at least seldom taught) part of American history which revolved around the activities, and fate, of HMS Gaspee, one of King George’s warships (a two-masted 8 gun schooner), which had been used very successfully in 1772 in Narragansett Bay off the coast of Rhode Island, to disrupt what the colonists considered to be “free trade”, but which the British government considered “smuggling”. Again, I’m indebted to two authorities on this subject, The Warwick, Rhode Island ‘Digital History Project’, and Dr. John Concannon, Webmaster of Gaspee Virtual Archives, from both of which I quote freely to tell this tale of what may have been one of the main events that precipitated the War of the Revolution.

We’ve all heard the almost immortal words: “Taxation without representation is tyranny”; most of us have been taught that these were the fighting words that ignited our War of the Revolution on April 19, 1775. As much as I dislike throwing “cold water” on such a venerable link in the chain of American history, I must conclude that “taxation”, with or without “representation”, was NOT the original motivator of our British American ancestors, as they existed uneasily with the might of “Mother England” and pondered their relationship with their parent country.

What Are We Earning?

Before we begin our foray into this topic, let’s examine how Webster’s Dictionary defines “earn”:
- To receive as return for effort and especially for work done or services rendered; to bring in by way of return;
- To come to be duly worthy of or entitled or suited to—i.e. ‘she earned a promotion’;
- To make worthy of or obtain for—i.e. ‘the suggestion earned him a promotion.
Seems pretty cut and dried, doesn’t it? But what does it really take to “earn” something? Obviously it takes an expenditure of time and/or effort. Often an outlay of money is involved, as in investing in more education in order to “earn” a higher income in future years. According to the dictionary definitions above, there are also non-monetary ways of “earning” something, such as earning another person’s trust. This type of “earning” requires a degree of character that is sometimes more difficult to attain, and can be more challenging to accomplish.

Ah yes, I remember him well! Tom Anderson, that is. Who, you may ask, was Thomas Jefferson Anderson (1910-2002)? I thought you’d never ask. Around fifty-two years ago I attended a meeting in Lancaster, S.C. The speaker, Tom Anderson, was a man who had the reputation of being a “straight talker”. That reputation was well earned over his long life of 91 years, and from his birth in Nashville, Tennessee in 1910, including years of serving God and Country, he always strove to honor the spirit of our nation’s Founders. That long-ago talk of his I attended included two of his favorite stories and, although he was not their author, he used both of these stories constantly to hammer home his points that Americans were swiftly losing their freedoms because we were being “conned” into accepting “free stuff” that was leading to the loss of our Constitutional liberties. Let me recount both of those stories for you.

These words, uttered by our blessed Savior as He suffered on that terrible cross for us, have changed countless lives over centuries of time, and without doubt are doing so this very moment, and will far into the future. ‘Forgiveness’, as difficult as it may sometimes be to extend to another, is perhaps one of the most powerful commands that our Savior taught us, and surely is one of the most emotional reactions that separates mankind from the other life forms on Earth. As we will discover, forgiveness is what unites people, and ultimately nations, that had pledged to never forgive each other.

That quote from the Wall Street Journal on April 3, 2020 in the title of this article is by one of the senior, and one of the most dedicated, members of the treacherous and treasonous Council On Foreign Relations, Henry Kissinger, one of that anti-American sovereignty organization’s long-time apologists, and one of the most powerful “deep staters” alive today. That WSJ article reminded readers that although the Covid-19 virus is borderless, in his view it continued and strengthened international cooperation along several fronts, all of which subtly lead to one of Dr. Kissinger’s long-time goals—world government—a vision that he has followed his entire life.

Haym Salomon – The Jewish Man Who Helped Finance The American Revolution

We were walking near Independence Square in Philadelphia, only a couple of blocks from Independence Hall, during one of our visits to that historic city almost 20 years ago, when my wife and I noticed a sign near a long-established Jewish synagogue. It was a historical marker telling about a man named Haym Salomon (1740-1785), of whom we knew nothing at all. (A picture of that marker is shown below.) Why, we asked ourselves, had we never heard of this man who we were informed was a “Financier of the (American) Revolution”? We didn’t recall ever having been taught in our American History courses (in the “dark ages” when actual history was presented) about a Jewish émigré to Colonial America who was one of the major sources of funds to support our patriot cause. Shame on us for being so uninformed. Shame on historians for neglecting this great virtually unknown patriot.

The Curse Of “Abandonment Theology”

In a previous article, we discussed some of the obvious reasons why our beloved America is slowly disintegrating into purposely induced chaos and tribalism, and I placed the blame for this descent into possible national oblivion squarely on the heads of Christian pastors/priests/ministers and the congregations they claim to lead (INCLUDING Christians who don’t “go to church”). I’ve never suggested, nor will I ever, that Christian people are retreating from the battle against evil and tyranny because they don’t love America, despite all its faults and its heritage of freedom. Of course they—we all—say we do. But unless Christian Patriots and patriots in general study God’s Word, and read publications like The Times Examiner, The New American, WorldNetDaily, Breitbart News, One America News, and many other pro-American and pro-Christian journals of truth (for example, Understanding The Threat, Conservative Business Journal, Judicial Watch), and abandon the devious and lying “main stream media”--including ALL of the “alphabet” TV channels, most cable news channels, virtually all print newspapers and well-known magazines, and ESPECIALLY the subversive, anti-American, anti-free speech “social media” like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc., they are totally unaware, for the most part, of the battle and have no knowledge of the forces that are attacking our liberties, our security, our prosperity, and indeed, our lives, because those who are supposed to be “watchmen on the wall”—our pastors, ministers, priests, deacons, and elders—prefer to hide in ignorance and refuse to become involved in “political issues”, even as our faith, our nation, our future, and that of generations still to come, hang in the balance. I often ponder whether or not our Heavenly Father thinks that these are “political” issues. But I’ll not attempt to speak for Him.

Is America Being Abandoned By Those Who Should Love And Protect Her?

“The highest glory of the American Revolution was this: It connected in one indissoluble bond the principles of civil government with the principles of Christianity.”
So said the 6th President of the U.S., John Quincy Adams, on July 4, 1821. I’ve read that quote often in the past, and I’ve always believed it to be both insightful and truthful. I’ve long assumed that most Americans of the “experienced” variety (i.e. those who are as ‘old as rocks’, like me) always endorsed the truthfulness of Adams’ statement. I’m not quite as confidant that our younger fellow citizens subscribe to that sentiment, or have even heard of President John Quincy Adams, and lately I’m increasingly concerned that Americans of all ages no longer value the wisdom of our “elders” and our Founders. Let me share some of my concerns with you.

On Standing Up and Speaking Out – An American Vision
