Why Not a "Holy Peace?"

The term, "Jihad," in the Moslem vocabulary means "holy war." To me, it's quite a stretch to think of war as "holy." Wouldn't you consider peace to be a lot more "holy?" Shouldn't the Moslems be promoting "holy peace" instead of "holy war?"
"Jihad" seems to be an important doctrinal concept to Moslems. It comes directly from the Moslems' supposedly holy book, the Koran. It is taught as the main means for the spreading of Islam to non-Moslem peoples and nations. Islam has grown and advanced historically primarily by warfare, by conquering with the sword. It has sometimes been called, "the religion of the sword."

Party Moderates Panic, Line Up Behind Romney
Herman Cain won the Florida Straw Poll. A few weeks later, Cain scored a big win, scoring 49 percent in the straw poll conducted by the national gathering of the Federation of Republican Women.
The poll of Republican women is a valid cross section of Republican activists and is the poll that struck fear in the hearts of the other GOP presidential contenders.
Herman Cain’s 9-9-9-tax plan is getting criticism from some of his opponents, but it is only a concept that must be approved by congress and has been supported by many.

Scripture tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:12 that if we think we are standing firm, we must be careful that we do not fall. Recently I was saddened to hear bad news about several old friends. These friends were conservative Christian home-schooling families who seemed to be the “model homeschoolers.” So when I heard that their families had been broken apart, I was somewhat stunned. I began to ponder how easy it is for even a “model family” to fall off the path. I believe it starts when we stop putting our faith in Jesus for grace to serve Him each day and instead begin to rely on other things. They may even be good things, but a reliance on them is a reliance on externals, not internals. Following are some externals that may become substitutes for Christ.
SC Public Schools Collected $11,700 per Student This Year: 44% to Instruction

South Carolina public schools collected $11,700 per student this school year from several different financial sources. Only 44 percent of the total was spent on instruction, according to the South Carolinians for Responsible Government Foundation. Their conclusions were compiled from raw data released by local districts and state agencies. The Foundation has compiled and published a ten-page report that includes district-by-district figures for funding in each of the state’s 83 traditional public school districts, as well as long-term trends detailing the size and scope of that money. Children from Greenville's First Presbyterian Church provided musical entertainment for the Harvest Hope Food Basket Luncheon fund raiser held at the Poinsett Club, Wednesday, September 28th. The mission of Harvest Hope Food Bank is to provide for the needs of hungry people by gathering and sharing quality food with dignity, compassion and education; and ending local hunger through shared community involvement. The non-profit 501(c)3 organization began as an emergency food box program in 1981.

When South Carolina Democratic Party Chairman Dick Harpootlian advocates the state government should run and pay for political party primary elections, and Republican Party leaders agree, it is time to take a close look at the situation.
Prior to 2008 Democrat and Republican parties ran their own primaries. They staffed the polls with volunteers. Party leaders resolved any questions and problems that arose.
Sixteenth Regiment SCV Adds Seven New Members

Jim Bouchillon, at left, Commander of the 16th Regiment South Carolina Volunteers, Camp 36, Sons of Confederate Veterans, added seven new members to the roster during the September meeting of the unit. They also added a new SCV Cadet Alden Garrett (not shown). The new members include James Blackmon, Robert Bryant, James Connell, Stephen Garrett, Harold Hawkins and Kenneth Willis.
The SCV unit owns and operates the Museum and Library of Confederate History in Greenville and sponsors the 16th South Carolina Color Guard of Honor which participates in various events across the Southland.
Members are descendants of men who served in the Confederate armed forces.
Greenville GOP Chairman Elected to National Office

Betty Poe, Chairman of the Greenville County Republican Party and President of the South Carolina Federation of Republican Women, was elected Third Vice President of the National Federation of Republican Women at their convention last week. She was greeted with a standing ovation by the Executive Committee upon her arrival in Greenville, Monday night. S. C. GOP Chairman Chad Connelly congratulated Mrs. Poe and stated she was the first South Carolinian in 39 years to be elected to be an officer in the National Federation of Republican Women.

South Carolina will Retain “First in the South” Primary and Host “First in the South” Republican Debate with FOX News
The South Carolina Republican Party has set Saturday, January 21st as GOP Presidential Preference Primary date. The state party made the move from February because Florida jumped ahead of the South Carolina original date in violation of party rules.
With the date change, South Carolina will remain “First in the South” following only Iowa and New Hampshire.
Question of Obama’s Birth Remains

During my interesting interview with Dr. Jerome Corsi last week, he mentioned that he had a discussion earlier in the day with G. Gordon Liddy who had discovered new information on the birth of the current president of the United States, Barack Obama. Dr. Corsi said the information would be contained in a new article he was preparing for World Net Daily.
According to the report published by World Net Daily and authored by Dr. Corsi, Liddy has a trusted source that supports a source already reporting to WND that the birth records in the vault in Honolulu are forged and that the files were tampered with as early as 1978. Liddy and Corsi warn that there are forged copies of birth information from both Hawaii and Kenya planted by Obama operatives as a trap to discredit so-called “Birthers.”

Republican Women’s Heritage

LaDonna Ryggs, chairman of the Spartanburg Republican Party, said that “Republican women have given us a great heritage” as she recounted the history of the Republican Party and the National Federation of Republican Women at the Greenville County Republican Women’s monthly luncheon at the Poinsett Club, Thursday.
Ryggs referred to a plank of the 1872 Republican platform that read: “The Republican Party is mindful of its obligations to the loyal women of America for their noble devotion to the cause of freedom. ” This was nearly 50 years before women had the right to vote.

Jeff West, a biologist and 25-year veteran employee of the South Carolina Department of Transportation, has filed an age discrimination suit against the troubled and financially strapped department.
As the DOT original Permits Coordinator, West says in the lawsuit that younger, less experienced workers were selected for key jobs that he sought in the DOT Environmental Division. Two of the positions he sought were important in overseeing the environmental impacts of road projects on the landscape.

This week’s feature is a flashback to one of the top groups of yesteryear, the Downings. The story of the Downings begins as a classic boy-meets-girl story. Virginia Ann Sanders of Pittsboro, MS, grew up on a cotton farm and had dreams of singing gospel music all over the world. Her family was supportive of those dreams, making sure Ann had the best music teachers and singing schools in the area to attend. Ann listened to a variety of music as a girl, and was a fan of Patti Page and Rosemary Clooney in particular, but since her aspirations were in gospel, it was her interest in Ginger Smith Laxson, soprano and pianist for the Speer Family, that would ultimately pay off for her.

The House of Representatives have cut funding from Obama’s Partnership for Sustainable Communities program. The program has been targeted for elimination from the House FY 2012 spending bill.
Defunding Sustainable Development has also come through a Department of Transportation bill, a draft of which completely eliminates funding for what are called TIGER grants, which provides funding for the largest grants through the Partnership for Sustainable Communities program.

Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio has Formed ‘Cold Case Posse’ to Investigate President’s Eligibility
The Times Examiner had an opportunity to discuss current events with Dr. Jerome R. Corsi prior to his presentation at Furman University, Monday evening. During the discussion, he received a phone call regarding his conversation with Arizona Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio that morning.
When asked if he thought Obama would prevail through the 2012 election, Dr. Corsi said in his view “there is a fifty-fifty chance” that the powers that be in the Democrat party will convince Obama to withdraw from the race. He believes the logical replacement would be Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

In addition to an informative address by Fourth District Congressman Trey Gowdy that included an update on the NLRB’s unconstitutional power grab in support of union bosses, there were patriotic reenactments, music and an opportunity for youngsters and adults alike to become more informed about the Constitution of the United States, especially the 27 Amendments to the Constitution.

Students Denied Credit for Attending the Corsi Lecture
Almost a hundred people showed up at Furman Hall to hear a presentation by Harvard educated New York Times bestselling author Dr. Jerome Corsi, Monday evening. There was a noticeable absence of students in the audience.
A student spokesman said a faculty committee had decided there was a “gap” between Dr. Corsi’s Harvard PhD and his six bestselling books and the topic he was to speak on at Furman. As a result, he was declared unqualified to speak and therefore virtually all of the small group of students in attendance were members of the sponsoring organization – The Conservative Students for a Better Tomorrow(CSBT).

Clemson Agricultural College, now Clemson University, has a rich military history beginning with founder Thomas Green Clemson, who served in the Confederate Army.
From it’s beginning through two World Wars, and Korea, Clemson was an all-male military school. Students lived in barracks with their rifles, wore uniforms, and were organized in military units with student leaders. The purpose was to develop superior military leaders.

I remember an exchange last year between Don Imus and his now late, but still great, brother Fred. Don asked if Fred had watched the Presidential Address on TV the night before. “Yes, I did” said Fred. “But about 30 seconds into it I realized he wasn’t going to resign so I turned it off.” Amen, Fred.
Last month we watched a world class cat fight in the Congressional litter box. The whole point was to trim the dead weight off the budget and get our spending under control. Personally, I thought we did a great job of clearly communicating the message: Stop spending!!! It seems I was wrong. Obama wants more spending.

“We Will Never Forget”
Wade Hampton High School remembered 9/11 with a ceremony on September 9th in memory of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
The ceremony took place at the flagpole in front of the school on Pine Knoll Drive. The ceremony included remarks by Principal Lance Radford, a wreath laying by Representatives of the Greenville County Sheriffs Department and the Wade Hampton Fire Department.
An Observer’s View of the Senate - DOT Hearing

In a rare off-season public hearing held Thursday, the Senators of the Transportation Committee sought urgently to determine why the Department of Transportation could not pay certain private contractors multi-million dollars owed for highway projects already completed. Numerous contractors were forced to lay off employees and some were facing bankruptcy because for the first time DOT was apparently unable to pay tens of millions of dollars of obligations to these contractors, and was also in arrears with the State Infrastructure Bank. This is certainly an urgent and shocking revelation.

For days Americans have relived the horrors of the 9/11/01 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, as well as the heroic battle by passengers against Islamic Terrorists aboard American Airlines Flight 93 over Pennsylvania. It is appropriate that we remember those innocent individuals who lost their lives and honor those who risked and lost their lives in the rescue efforts.
