That was the real-life nightmare of Asia Bibi, a Christian mother in Pakistan who, on a hot day in 2009, went in search of water on the farm where she worked. The other women refused to drink from the container, because Bibi isn't Muslim. That started an argument, and farmworkers insisted later that Bibi had made derogatory comments about Mohammed. They accused her of one of the worst crimes possible -- blasphemy -- and she was tried, convicted, and sentenced to death.

IRD Rejoices Over Asia Bibi Acquittal, Concerned for Pakistani Christians

WASHINGTON -- The Institute on Religion and Democracy is rejoicing over news of Pakistan's Supreme Court overturning the death penalty conviction of Aasiya Noreen, commonly known as Asia Bibi, a Christian Pakistani woman falsely accused of blasphemy against Islam.
Bibi has been imprisoned in a Pakistani jail since 2010. She was arrested after her Muslim neighbors accused her of defiling a water bucket and insulting the prophet Muhammed during a dispute. Pakistan is notorious for its strict blasphemy laws used to ban any criticism of Islam and to infringe on the human rights of its religious minorities.
