Pope Francis: Resign, and Let Pope Benedict Return from Retirement
- By Christian Newswire
MANASSAS, Va – Conservative direct marketing pioneer and prominent Catholic layman Richard A. Viguerie, Chairman of ConservativeHQ.com and author of "TAKEOVER, The 100-Year War for the Soul of the GOP and How Conservatives Can Finally Win It," published on his ConservativeHQ.com the following column calling for Pope Francis to resign the Papacy over the growing sex abuse scandal and its cover-up within the Catholic Church.
Mr. Viguerie writes, "No institution that is sick can cure itself, and the Catholic Church is grievously ill. Like any patient, the institutional Church must be a willing participant in the cure. But it will be up to the Catholic laity to administer the necessary fixes." Mr. Viguerie urges Pope Benedict to come out of retirement to lead the Church in this time of crisis.
The sex abuse scandal and its cover-up within the Catholic Church require solutions that the institutional Church will be incapable of achieving on its own.

Foundation for Moral Law Urges Supreme Court to Protect Religious Liberty from Transgender Activism
- By Christian Newswire
MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Foundation for Moral Law ("the Foundation") filed an amicus brief in the United States Supreme Court today urging it to protect religious liberty from transgender activism. In this case, R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Homes, Inc. v. EEOC, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission sued a funeral home, owned by Christians, that refused to allow a male funeral director to dress as a female. The United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit held that Title VII's prohibition of sex discrimination applies to transgender individuals and that the funeral home owners' religious objections did not protect them from liability.
