Advice From the Oracle
- Details
- By Raquelle Sheen
Not every family is blessed by having a Great Oracle of Wisdom such as myself in their midst, but my family is lucky. I am always ready to dispense Advice and Instruction whenever I’m asked for it, and often when I’m not asked! (Isn’t that nice of me?) And although my Vast Talents occasionally go unappreciated by my thankless family, I have no doubt that you will appreciate the tips on homeschooling and childrearing that I, the Homeschooled Oracle, have to offer. I share these Fabulous Tidbits out of my store of Personal Experiences, Personal Observations, and from the Stock of Truisms I learned from my Venerated Parents.
A-a-hem. Here it goes.
Kids will be kids. But that doesn’t mean they can’t learn to act like well-behaved adults—usually at a younger age than parents give them credit for.
The Church Needs A Marriage Apologetic
- Details
- By Dr. Tony Beam
Since the election of President Obama, marriage has been under a relentless assault as proponents of same-sex marriage sense the tide of public opinion turning in their favor. The new White House website, which was posted on the day of President Obama’s inauguration, calls for the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act. In relatively quick succession, the Iowa and Connecticut state supreme courts declared same-sex marriage legal and Vermont became the first state to pass same-sex marriage through their legislature. The people of Iowa have yet to have their say in the matter and it is likely, if the legislature will allow it, there will be a constitutional amendment protecting marriage on a future Iowa ballot that will pass with plenty of votes to spare.
Welcome to USSR, 1920

When the president announced last week that he would “cut out the middleman” and make direct government loans to students, he laid bare his contempt for free enterprise. He is fulfilling a campaign promise by overhauling the system through which he claims, “Private lenders are costing America’s taxpayers more than $15 million dollars every day and provide no additional value except to the banks themselves.”
Consider the philosophy behind his statement. If government cuts out the middleman and performs the service instead, it will be cheaper and more efficient, he reasons. Apply this same reasoning to, say, the entire banking industry. Government’s direct involvement in the banking industry can eliminate all those bonuses paid to greedy executives and profits earned by greedy share holders, and make sure that loans are extended to low-income borrowers whether they qualify or not. Direct government control of the banking business will surely make it fairer and more efficient.

The South Carolina Supreme Court ordered Governor Mark Sanford on Thursday, June 4, 2009, to request $700 million in federal stimulus money. Sanford signed the request and numerous pages of assurances required by the federal government under protest and under orders from the South Carolina Supreme Court.
In his cover letter to Arne Duncan, Secretary of Education, Gov. Sanford made it clear that he was not in lock-step with the circumstances being forced on him.
The Governor’s comments in part are quoted below:

Disarming the American People
- Details
- By Franklin D. Raddish
The Second Amendment in our Constitution says, “A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
Obama, Reid, and Pelosi want to take our guns. Nancy (Jezebel) Pelosi, the U.S. House Speaker, has recently started a public media campaign to register guns that have not been registered by their owners. Pelosi said in one of her kick-off media anti-gun episodes, “We don’t want to take their guns away. We want them registered.” This is nothing but political camouflaged propaganda to take the guns from the American people. Pelosi’s objective is for Americans to register their guns today so Obama and company can confiscate them tomorrow. Gun control has its roots in Communism and Nazism. These tyrannical groups know that a defenseless people is an enslaved people. Communist dictators throughout the world could not have committed the atrocities they did if they had not disarmed the people first.
Obama Shows His True Pro-Arab Colors
- Details
- By Dr. Al Snyder
I am sad and even ashamed to say it, but our U.S. President Barack Obama, in his first 100 days in office, has clearly and unmistakeably shown the world, and Israel, his true colors. And they are not pro-Israel.
We could start with his bowing to the Moslem Saudi Arabian King Abdullah when he met him recently at the G20 summit in London. Almost every American, and probably all Israelis, took this as a serious insult. How could the leader of the world's greatest democratic and pro-Christian nation bow himself to the leader of the world's leading autocratic and Moslem nation? And then, how could he further demean himself by denying his bowing, when we all saw him do it with our own eyes? Would he bow before the Jewish president or prime minister of Israel? I wouldn't bet on it.
