Johnson on Schumer's Surrender: 'Buckle Up. ...[We're] Building Muscle Memory for Winning'
- Details
- By Suzanne Bowdey - The Washington Stand

Apart from Donald Trump, no one is more unpopular among Democrats right now than the Senate’s Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.). The longtime leader infuriated his party Friday, surrendering on the government shutdown and handing Republicans a victory that can only be described as miraculous. Not only was his decision to cave after days of tough talk a shock, it’s also making Schumer the target of “volcanic anger” in his own party. As one Democratic aide put it after the vote, “I’ve never seen anything like it in the time I’ve been in the Senate ...” And as far as conservatives are concerned, Schumer had it coming.
Council’s Role in Guiding Development and Zoning
- Details
- By Benton Blount - Chairman of Greenville County Council
Greenville County Council plays a big role in shaping local development through zoning laws and planning decisions. The County Council doesn’t build houses or shopping centers itself – instead, it sets the rules that guide where and how development can happen. These rules (known as zoning ordinances) must follow South Carolina’s state laws on planning. Council members work with the county’s planning commission and staff to update zoning maps, consider rezoning requests, and make sure new growth fits the community’s comprehensive plan. In short, County Council creates the framework for development, aiming to balance growth with residents’ needs.
Supreme Court Rules Utah Doesn't Have a Right to Its Own Land
- Details
- By Kathleen Marquardt - American Policy Center

In 2013, Utah submitted its Transfer of Public Lands Act to the federal government, calling on it “to fulfill its pledge under the state’s Enabling Act to dispose of most federal lands in the state, some of which would be placed back to the state.
Eleven years later, in January of this year, the Supreme Court refused Utah’s filing to bring 18.5 million acres of its land and its resources under state control. This is unappropriated land – that is, land that is not designated as national monuments, national ports, or land held for military bases or held in trust for Indian reservations. The decision came in a brief order with no explanation of its reasoning.
This is about land and ownership. Should the federal government control our land or should we the People and our states?
Convention of States: The False-hope Hucksters
- Details
- By Joe Wolverton, II, J.D. - The New American

There they go again. The latest missive from the Convention of States (COS) echo chamber reeks of recycled rhetoric and shallow sloganeering, wrapped in a false piety toward the Constitution they purport to defend but so plainly misunderstand. Their tired attacks on the John Birch Society — the last line of principled defense against the gutting of our constitutional republic — are not only dishonest, but profoundly dangerous.
Let us dispense with their clumsy propaganda and expose the COS scheme for what it is: a Trojan horse dressed in constitutional garb, promising “reform” while preparing the kindling for a political inferno that could consume the Constitution entirely.
Trump Urged to Dust Off an Old Weapon and Legislate DOGE Cuts
- Details
- By Suzanne Bowdey - The Washington Stand

If you ask House Republicans, the most reviled phrase in leadership’s vocabulary is “continuing resolution.” Nothing seems to raise conservatives’ blood pressure like a CR — mainly because it’s become synonymous with Congress’s perpetual failure to pass a long-term budget. And while there’s certainly grumbling about the idea this time around, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) may be heading into his seventh government shutdown threat with less resistance from his own party. And another two words explain why: Donald Trump.
Hang on to your seats! The curtain is being pulled back everywhere

Woohoo. While DOGE is exposing the deepest corruption in America, whistleblowers and media are doing the same in the European Union. I can’t wait for someone in the U.N. to start revealing the lies.
Watts Up With That’s latest article “The European Commission Faces Its Biggest Scandal in 20 Years” comes at such a perfect time. Yes, much of the western world is in upheaval with the U.S. exposure of the Democrat and New World Order corruption here (which obviously consisted of a lot of Republicans, too) and has been going on for well over 100 years. But let me just give you a few samples of this revealing article (their words in chalkboard).
Chairman’s Corner: Setting the Record Straight on the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO)
- Details
- By Benton Blount - Chairman of Greenville County Council
At our most recent Greenville County Council meeting, a colleague placed the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) on the agenda with the intent to “table” it—which, under our rules, effectively means to kill the ordinance entirely.
For those who may not be aware, we reconsidered the UDO at the beginning of this year to address both council and constituent concerns about its structure and impact. The goal was to take the concerns seriously and amend the ordinance to reflect what is best for Greenville County. It wasn’t a simple decision either. Due to our rules and the fact that it was passed during last year’s session, this ordinance was almost solidified. Had it not been for this specific strategy, we would now be stuck with the ordinance as is!
