NGU To Host Annual Faith at Work Business Symposium

Tigerville, SC – (January 7, 2019) North Greenville University (NGU) will present its annual Faith at Work Business Symposium on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, from 1-5 p.m. in Turner Chapel on the NGU campus. This free half-day conference showcases Christ-centered entrepreneurs sharing their stories of leading their company for Christ while encouraging the hopes and dreams of young NGU business students. It is open to all students, faculty, and the Upstate business community.

Pieces of Art at Washington Center

Throughout the school year, Mr. Riley’s class at Washington Center studies the artwork of author/illustrator Eric Carle. With each new book, each student chooses an animal and creates their own Eric Carle painting. These pieces of art are saved all year and bound together at the end of the year in a special book of inspired masterpieces.

Christmas at Washington Center

Thanks to friends and community supporters, the holiday season was merry for the students attending Washington Center. The community and staff joined together to purchase gifts for students through the Giving Tree project. Songs by Kayle Brown, District Coordinator for Workers' Compensation, students and staff welcomed Santa, enthusiastically sponsored by Mr. Allen Madden, during the annual Santa Visit Party. Refreshments were generously provided by the Daughters of Penelope, a Washington Center tradition for over 40 years. Volunteers from Christ Church Episcopal School assisted students during the festivities. The holidays are always exciting at Washington Center!

Turning Trash into Treasuer at Washington Center

In art class, students at Washington Center have been learning how to reduce waste through upcycling- turning trash into treasure. Under the instruction of art teacher, Amanda Wakely, students have been decoupaging on plastic toy balls to hang as ornaments. Extra ornaments will be made to sell in our new online store, Seagull Sustainability Shop, to help raise funds for the school. The site was created by Environmental Science teacher, Jamie Taber, in cooperation with Related Arts teachers. It features handmade crafts and foods grown in the school’s greenhouse, and it can be found at:

Holiday Spirit at Washington Center

Holiday spirit was in the air as Washington Center students and staff enjoyed musical performing groups from St. Mary's Catholic School. Student groups included beginning and advanced strings, St. Mary's band, and a show choir. Students were under the direction of Dr. Richard House and performed a variety of Christmas and seasonal music. What a treat it was to hear these students share their music at this festive time of the year.
