NGU Announces Speaker for December Commencement

Chris Justus, Chief Meteorologist at WYFF News 4, will deliver the keynote address at North Greenville University’s (NGU) Commencement on Dec. 9 in the university’s Turner Chapel.
“We are excited that WYFF-4 weatherman Chris Justus will be joining us on campus as our commencement speaker. He is a deeply committed Christ-follower, and we serve together as deacons at Taylors First Baptist Church,” said NGU President Dr. Gene C. Fant, Jr. “His winsome spirit and commitment to excellence make our Upstate community better.”
Earning his degree in meteorology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Justus started his broadcasting career in Savannah, Georgia. He made stops in Charlotte and Nashville before settling in the Upstate of South Carolina in 2013. Justus was named Chief Meteorologist at WYFF News 4 in November 2019.

BJU Announces Free Tuition Program for South Carolina Residents

Bob Jones University today announced the launch of SC Pell Promise, a program which enables South Carolina residents to receive a tuition-free education if they receive a Pell Grant and the Life Scholarship. Beginning in the fall 2023 semester, this program is available to eligible students for all four years while attending BJU.
“BJU is the first independent university in the state to offer a program of this kind. We want to ensure qualified students with financial need have an opportunity to receive a world-class, Christian liberal arts education without taking on substantial student loans,” said Dr. Bobby Wood, BJU vice president for enrollment and marketing. “We believe the SC Pell Promise puts college within reach for deserving South Carolina residents.

BJU Invites Community to 2022 Christmas Celebration

Bob Jones University invites the Greenville community to the annual Christmas Celebration Friday, Dec. 2, from 4-9 p.m. on the BJU campus.
“The community is invited to join us as we usher in the Christmas season. We have a variety of activities—game stations for children, concerts, food trucks, a radio show, and the highly anticipated Alumni Christmas Market,” said BJU President Steve Pettit. “The evening is capped by a reminder of the true reason for Christmas followed by a choir-led singing through beloved Christmas carols.”

Voctave Returns to BJU

Bob Jones University will present Voctave Thursday, Dec. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in Founder’s Memorial Amphitorium.
“Come kick off the Christmas season with Voctave for their much-anticipated second visit to BJU,” said Dr. Darren Lawson, dean of the BJU School of Fine Arts and Communication. “This 11-member a cappella group amazed our audience on their last visit, and their Christmas program is sure to please.”

North Greenville University to Host Military Appreciation Day

North Greenville University will recognize the service of military veterans during Military Appreciation Day at Younts Stadium on November 12.
The celebration will take place during the North Greenville football team’s final home game against #19 ranked University of West Georgia. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m.
“NGU Football is honored to celebrate Military Appreciation Day,” said North Greenville Head Football Coach Jeff Farrington. “We are allowed to have many privileges due to the service and sacrifice of many American servicemen and women around the globe. Carrying each service flag is not something we take for granted.”

BJU Holds Army ROTC Ceremony on Veterans Day

On Veterans Day, November 11, Bob Jones University held an Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) contracting ceremony, at 11 a.m. in Founder’s Memorial Amphitorium.
Crosstown partnerships with Furman University (Army) and Clemson University (Air Force), which were launched in 2018, allow BJU students to participate in their respective ROTC battalions. While most BJU students are qualified to join either program, wear the uniform and hold the title “cadet,” exceptional cadets who stand out as scholars, athletes and leaders may be offered scholarship contracts that cover their costs of tuition, fees, and books and receive a monthly stipend.
