SC Still Has Hundreds of Bad Bridges Despite Gas-tax-hike Law
- By Rick Brundrett - The Nerve
Last Friday, President Joe Biden visited Pittsburgh to tout his $1 trillion infrastructure law – just hours after a 50-year-old bridge there collapsed while a municipal bus and several cars were on it, resulting in injuries though no deaths.
In South Carolina, the S.C. Department of Transportation has identified 465 out of 750 “structurally deficient” bridges statewide to be replaced. But through December, DOT had completed only three bridge projects with more than $2.3 billion in revenues collected under the 2017 gas-tax-hike law, recently released agency records show.
And the number of finished projects, as well as the total number of bridge projects (16) identified by DOT to be completed with gas-tax-hike revenues, hasn’t changed since last May 31, as The Nerve first revealed in July. Of the $2.32 billion in collected revenues through Dec. 31, just $18.1 million, or less than 1% of the total, was designated for “additional” bridge projects.
Biden and His Commie Masters Are After Our Guns!
- By W.H. Lamb
We’ve been hearing much of late from the senile presidential imposter who lives (at least part of the time) at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in the District of Criminals and Corruption. One of his current favorite babbling points is his assurance to his subjects that he is going to go after all those “illegal firearms” that are wandering to and fro all over our nation, seeking whom they might maim and kill. After all, he assures us in his best whispery, gravely voice, “the Second Amendment is not absolute”, nor does it protect rights of those pesky people who have the temerity to actually believe our increasingly ignored Constitution is still the law of the land, and it surely doesn’t give those gun-loving fanatics in our midst the right to buy any kind of commonly used firearms---especially those evil “AR-15 assault rifles” that are used only to kill large numbers of people (but which, of course, are NOT ‘assault rifles’ which are for the military only). And, he assures us in his wise professorial voice, the “2nd Amendment surely didn’t give our colonial ancestors the right to go out and “buy cannons”. Just listen to me, he orders, and I’ll keep you safe from those violent everyday citizens who insist on clinging to their guns (AND to their Bibles and their religions) in their neighborhoods. And, he promises, I’ll use our national capital bureaucrats to assist in protecting ‘the people’ from those evil firearms—bureaucrats who. even now, are digitizing millions of ILLEGALLY maintained firearm purchase records in preparation for a campaign of CONFISCATION, which with absolutely NO doubt is the goal of Comrade Biden and his fellow Bolsheviks!
Beijing 2022: A Golden Opportunity to Hold China Accountable
- By Tony Perkins - Family Research Council
As much as China wants to dominate the ice and slopes at this year's Olympics, winning medals is only part of the goal. Its greatest victory, the regime knows, would be rehabilitating its global image. And in some ways, the propaganda game has already been won. Not only did Beijing win the hosting job from the International Olympic Committee over the world's objections, but it managed to convince some of the planet's biggest advertisers to pour their money into a country that spends its free time committing mass atrocities against its own people. Atrocities, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) argues, our athletes should ignore.
The Taxpayers Need YOU to Vote!
- By Anne Schlafly Cori, Chairman, Eagle Forum
The most important election this year is your school board. Every single voter needs to vote in this local election. Here is why electing a responsive school board is critically important to you and your community:
1. Taxpayers need a return on their investment. We spend a lot of money to educate the children of our neighbors because we want a thriving community. Employers need educated and skilled workers to hire. Our community needs the next generation of responsible citizens who are educated and can work and contribute to society.
2. Schools should provide real education with metrics to assess. The elimination of grades and testing is detrimental to academic achievement. Both parents and teachers need to assess the effectiveness of the teaching. Students should be assigned homework. For evidence of the dumbing down of scholastics, look at the new changes to the SAT: shorter test, shorter questions, and shorter answers. The result is less learning.
For the Skeptic
- By Ben Graydon
Some are driven to just believe whatever the doctor / lawyer / judge / preacher / talking-head says. The fact that we must resort to “alternative media” platforms to publish inconvenient truths is evidence that most just tend to flow the direction of the current, not actively engaged in critical thinking but tending to believe the “authorities.” No matter that the struggle of mankind since Adam and Eve engaged with the serpent has been obedience to God’s call to use the gifts that He gave us, including a reasoning, thinking mind, to uncover the truth about the claims that confront us. It was, therefore, only a matter of time before a defender of the status quo would arise to challenge this writer’s challenges to the allegations of a real pandemic, driven by a real virus, and being fought by a real vaccine. As has been clearly stated here over the past few weeks, none of that is true, but don’t just take my word for it.

BOSTON -- GiveSendGo stands for hope and freedom. We recognize the freedoms we have are God-given, not authorized by governments, but rather freedoms that ought to be protected by our governments.
GiveSendGo does not condone violence of any form! We believe there's more power in the unity of a peaceful protest than in violent civil unrest. As in any polarized situation, we recognize there will be a few individuals and groups that might intentionally try to incite violence, which will be used to stain this movement by opposing groups. We will not broad-stroke those individual situations as a depiction of what this movement represents as if they were affiliated.

Retired NBC News and Today Show Correspondent Bob Dotson to Give Lecture at NGU
- By LaVerne Howell - NGU
Retired NBC News and Today Show Correspondent Bob Dotson will present the lecture "Behind the Media Mirror: A Lifetime Search for Ordinary Americans Doing Extraordinary Things" on Tuesday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Hamlin Recital Hall on North Greenville University's Tigerville Campus.
Dotson often jokes, "I've been in more hotel rooms than the Gideon Bible." But after 40 years of crisscrossing the United States for NBC Nightly News and the Today Show, he might be right. Dotson's "American Story" series brought tales of true-life heroes to millions of television viewers, always focusing on the people who make the country work rather than the dysfunction that sometimes dominates the news.

Ask Your Representatives to Oppose Vaccine Mandates
- By Eagle Forum
Our representatives are currently drafting a massive spending bill to fund our government. Last year, House Democrats threw every socialist policy they could in the bill including funding for federal vaccine mandates. Although Americans oppose these mandates, the Biden administration keeps pushing them forward. So far, Biden has issued five vaccine mandates that have impacted millions of individuals, even costing them their jobs.
This week, Congressman Chip Roy (R-TX) had enough. Roy, along with his colleagues wrote a letter to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) letting them know that any government funding bill that allows federal vaccine mandates to move forward will be staunchly opposed. Every member of Congress should join this letter to protect every Americans’ individual rights.
Please call or email your Representative and Senators today to ask them to join Rep. Roy’s letter opposing vaccine mandates.

What Matters Most to Nations and Peoples?
- By Pat Buchanan
Speaking in Conroe, Texas, last weekend, former President Donald Trump accused his successor of allowing millions of migrants to enter the country illegally across our Southern border.
"The most important border ... for us is not Ukraine's border but America's border," thundered Trump.
"Before Joe Biden sends any troops to defend a border in Europe, he should be sending troops to defend our border right here in Texas."
Thus did Trump not only frame a compelling issue for the fall election; he has framed an issue that touches on one of the great and deepening divides of our time.
SC Upstate Legislators Layout Their 2022 Agenda at A Well-Packed Local GOP Meeting
- By James Spurck, Publisher
Legislator Says Upstate Delegation Now Controls the SC Senate
On Monday, January 31st, the Fourth District Republican Club and South Carolina’s State GOP Club held a community-wide legislative forum at the newly renovated Historic Greer Depot in Greer, SC.
The meeting began with Fourth District Republican Club Chairman Nate Leupp and SCGOP Chairman Drew McKissick who gave open remarks and thanked the crowd for the great attendance.
WYFF’s Taggart Houck, WGTK 94.5 The Answer’s Joey Hudson, and First Monday’s Deb Sofield moderated the questions and answer portion of the forum.
US 4th District Congressman William Timmons started the meeting with a quick update of legislation in Washington, DC. Timmons highlighted three issues: high inflation, out-of-control prices of energy felt at the gas pump, and the shameful exit out of Afghanistan. As he points out the great news from the newly elected Virginia Governor, he informs the crowd that Columbia elected their first Republican Mayor in his lifetime. He says the American people are starting to see it and change is coming.
Saving America From Its Looming Decline
- By Neil Patel
When the history of this American era is written, the top headline will not be about election controversies or critical race theory or even COVID-19. This will be known most of all as the era when America sold out its future generations. This week, America's national debt surpassed $30 trillion for the first time, a full $7 trillion increase from just two years ago.
How did this happen, and who's to blame? President Bill Clinton was no deficit hawk, but with a Republican Congress keeping him largely in line and with the dot-com boom providing record government revenues, Clinton gets a pass. His eight years added to the deficit, but not by much by today's standards. As measured against the size of the U.S. economy, the debt ratio actually went down under Clinton.
The Lockdown Takedown: New Study Finally Isolates Facts
- By Tony Perkins - Family Research Council
Three months after Dr. Anthony Fauci declared, "I am the science," the science begs to disagree. An explosive new study from Johns Hopkins has taken the world by storm, slamming the idea of mass lockdowns to fight COVID -- and destroying whatever scrap of credibility Fauci had left. Not only did the lockdowns disrupt lives, but they also had "little to no effect" in saving them. They hurt us socially, economically, and mentally, the researchers concluded, "with devastating effects." If the lockdowns benefited anyone, it turns out, it was the politicians -- who used them to expand power they never should have had.
Budget & SCOTUS Looming Over Capitol Hill
- By Eagle Forum
Slow Start to the Congressional Year
After a year of failed priorities from the Biden administration, Congress has begun the new year quietly. There are a couple of important issues nagging them though: funding the government and a Supreme Court vacancy.
The federal government survived solely on continuing resolutions last year. The most recent, passed in December, is set to expire on February 18th. Although House Democrats passed budget-related bills in 2021, they erased all pro-life protections and added in pork-like vaccine mandate funding, increasing the minimum wage, Green New Deal language, and paid family leave. These leftist policies deemed the budget dead-on-arrival in the Senate. Thankfully, House Republicans consistently opposed these measures. In fact, Congressman Chip Roy from Texas and over a dozen of his colleagues wrote a letter to House and Senate leadership to oppose any budget bill that funds vaccine mandates.
Toddler Denied Lifesaving Surgery in Three Countries Because of Unvaccinated Parents
- By Michael Tennant - The New American
A three-year-old from Cyprus was refused lifesaving surgery in three countries because his parents were not vaccinated against COVID-19.
According to Politico:
The boy, who has not been named, was hospitalized with serious heart disease. As Cypriot hospitals were unable to perform the necessary procedure, the health ministry arranged for the boy to be taken by air ambulance to Germany last Thursday.
However, the day before the transfer was supposed to take place, the hospital in Frankfurt informed the Cypriot authorities that it would not be going ahead because the boy’s parents had not had the COVID-19 vaccine.
A German health official told Politico that the government does not prohibit hospitals from treating unvaccinated people or their children, but hospitals are free to make their own rules regarding such matters.
Beijing Can't Hold a Torch to Olympic Standards
- By Tony Perkins - Family Research Council
The world's best athletes are already skiing their way down China's Genting Snow Park, but the slipperiest slope is that they're there at all. Two days away from the official kick-off to the 2022 Beijing Games, the international uproar is deafening. While hockey and curling get underway in China's state-of-the-art facilities, millions of innocent people are locked away in cells, waiting for their next beating, their next rape, or final breath. A six-hour plane ride away from the greatest sports spectacle of the last two years, the host is hiding the biggest torture network of the modern age. And the International Olympic Committee knew it.
The IOC has been the target of a lot of outrage lately. After barely voting to let Beijing host the Games (44-40), the committee has excused the decision ever since. To the 243 groups who've decried China's ongoing genocide against the Uyghurs (and its unilateral crackdown on speech, faith, and freedom), the IOC merely shrugged, declaring themselves "strictly politically neutral at all times." But, as a globe full of activists have argued, this isn't about politics -- it's about crimes against humanity.
Human Rights Activist and Clergyman to Begin Hunger Strike/Fast to Stand in Solidarity and Pray for the Oppressed People of China During the 2022 Beijing Olympics
- By Stanton Public Policy Center/Purple Sash Revolution

Rev. Mahoney's hunger strike/fast is part of Stanton Public Policy Center/Purple Sash Revolution's global campaign called #LeastWatchedOlympics
The #LeastWatchedOlympics campaign will be sending a clear message to the Chinese government that the world must stand against China's human rights abuses and will not be a part of the CCP's attempt to use the Olympic Games as a propaganda tool. Our goal is to make the Beijing Olympics the least watched Olympics in history.

Why Airbnb Banned Me (and My Hubby, Too!)
- By Michelle Malkin
So here is the grim reality of life in Woke America 2022. In November, I spoke at a peaceful conference held by an organization that is deemed a "hate group" by the Southern Poverty Law Center and Anti-Defamation League. The title of my talk was "Race, Immigration, and Con. Inc: How I Came to See the Light." It was a wide-ranging discussion of my three decades of reporting on the nation's demographic and cultural deterioration -- which I've chronicled firsthand on college campuses, at our borders, and in every crime-ridden, riot-prone, and mass migration-transformed metropolis, from Los Angeles to Seattle and Portland, to Baltimore, Washington, D.C., New York and Denver.
As I've done throughout my career, I lambasted both Swamp Democrats and establishment Republicans for selling us out. The speech delved into the K-20 metastasis of anti-white curriculum, the corporate media's whitewashing of black-on-Asian attacks, and the long campaign to censor nationalist dissidents who put America first. A week after my talk, San Francisco-based Airbnb notified me that I was banned from using its services ever again and imperiously deleted my account. Poof!

Black History and the American Dream
- By Alveda C. King
Black History is intricately interwoven into the American Dream. As patriots, co-designers, and guardians of our Nation, we must know, remember and share our history; for the present and for generations to come.
Every February, America acknowledges Black History Month. Consequently, a recurring debate emerges, the question being, "Why do we need to set aside this calendar occurrence?" My America First Policy Institute colleague Ken Blackwell gives a pertinent response: Black history is American history.
Meanwhile, today American life faces an ongoing, challenging, yet not insurmountable reality; purveyors of division constantly weaponize a false racial premise by equating racial identification to skin color, all in a cynical effort to divide our communities.
Records: Boeing, Volvo to Benefit from Secretive ‘Infrastructure’ Program
- By Rick Brundrett - The Nerve
The S.C. Department of Commerce wants to spend nearly half of $150 million in state surplus money it’s seeking for next fiscal year on projects that would benefit corporate giants Boeing and Volvo – contradicting what the agency said in its official budget request, according to an internal document obtained by The Nerve.
Commerce released the two-page document to The Nerve on Friday evening, just several hours after The Nerve reported that the agency was continuing to be secretive about its “Strategic Economic Development Infrastructure” program – even after a request was submitted under the S.C. Freedom of Information Act for all records related to the program.
The Nerve first revealed in December that Commerce was seeking $100 million for the program – its listed No. 1 budget priority for fiscal 2022-23, which begins July 1. Last month, The Nerve reported that Gov. Henry McMaster proposed $150 million for the program, though, as with his Cabinet agency, he gave no specifics in his state budget version about how the money would be spend.
Frozen Bear, Sulking Dragon
- By Joshua Arnold - Family Research Council
Yesterday's meeting of the United Nations Security Council was possibly its most exciting, ever. U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Linda Thomas-Greenfield called for an open discussion on the crisis in Ukraine, saying, "This is not about antics. It's not about rhetoric. It's not about the U.S. and Russia. What this is about is the peace and security of one of our member states." Perhaps knowing the self-inflicted embarrassment that would follow, Russia and China haplessly attempted to block debate, but got steamrolled in a lopsided 10-2 vote (with three abstentions).

Supreme Court Nominees -- Race Can Be Relevant
- By Star Parker
"Mr. Biden's campaign promise that he'd appoint a black woman to the Supreme Court is unfortunate because it elevates skin color over qualifications."
Thus, The Wall Street Journal editorial page captured, in one sentence, the sentiment of many if not most of right-of-center white Americans about the president's campaign pledge, which he appears to have every intention to fulfill.
But, no pun intended, is it all really so black and white?
May we ask if ever there might be justification for taking race and gender into consideration as deciding factors in making a Supreme Court nomination?
Arizona Recognizes Day of Tears
- By Christian Newswire
PHOENIX -- The Arizona House of Representatives has issued a legislative proclamation, sponsored by Shawnna Bolick (R-Phoenix), designating January 22 as the Day of Tears in Arizona.
"Over 62 million souls have perished due to abortion. One third of Generations X and Alpha, are gone because Roe v. Wade legalized 'choice.' The State of Arizona has continued to be recognized for valuing life and a champion for the preborn. The Day of Tears seeks to take that fateful date and turn into one which causes our nation to reflect. The Day of Tears is not about shame. It is about remembering that abortion hurts. Loss is real, and life has value. I will continue to fight for the unborn and for a culture of life. We can change hearts and minds, one heartbeat at a time," said Bolick.
