The Economists Got 2025 All Wrong
- Details
- By Stephen Moore
Well, Donald Trump has done it again!
He stumped the chumps. The "chumps" in this case were the "blue-chip" academic and financial economists whose consensus forecast this time last year was of high inflation and low economic growth. Wrong on both counts.
As you've probably heard, the GDP growth for Q3 came in at a red-hot 4.3%, following 3.5% for the second quarter. Some 90% of professional economists got it wrong -- all underestimating the strength of the Trump economy. QED: These weren't random errors. These were "hate Trump" errors.
They also predicted inflation of above 3% for 2025. It's going to come in at closer to 2.7%, with the last two months trending down to the Fed inflation target of 2%.
“Death to the Dictator”: Iran Protests Turn Openly Defiant as Markets Shut Down
- Details
- By Emmitt Barry - Worthy News Washington D.C. Bureau Chief

(Worthy News) – Chants of “death to the dictator” rang out across Tehran as thousands of merchants, students, and residents joined expanding protests sparked by Iran’s deepening economic collapse. Security forces responded with tear gas and rubber bullets as large sections of the capital, including parts of the Grand Bazaar, were shuttered in protest.
What began as demonstrations over soaring prices and the rapid fall of the rial quickly escalated into direct political defiance. Crowds openly targeted Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, signaling a sharp shift from economic grievances to calls for regime change. Pro-monarchy chants praising Iran’s former royal family were also heard, an increasingly rare development in public protests.
Has the Bethlehem Star Mystery Been Unveiled?

The Heavens Declare the Creative Glory of God

Publisher’s Note: I have presented the following in presentation form for almost a quarter of a century. This is the first time I have put it in article form. Having been a former President of the Roper Mountain Astronomers and a former board member for many years, I have presented the following as my opinion of the Bethlehem Star. God has used it many times to share the reason for the season.
Even though the Bible never calls or implies that the Bethlehem Star was a supernatural miracle, I have had a few attendees tell me that I am trying to explain an unexplainable miracle as if that makes this miraculous event less than a miracle. But it is my opinion that this makes it more of a miracle. It glorifies the Creator more in that God set all these astronomical events in motion at the beginning of the creation of the heavens and earth. No astronomical events mentioned in the Bible collide with each other or get off track. But they occur precisely when He intended them to, at the right historical moments, despite the human choice variables involved. Only the Almighty God of Creation can do that! That is what I call a Divine Miracle of Creation!
CCP Conducts Mass Arrests of Christians Days before Christmas
- Details
- By S.A. McCarthy - The Washington Stand

Hundreds of Christians in China will likely spend Christmas in jail this year, according to a recent report. Starting on December 13, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) mobilized “more than a thousand police officers, SWAT units, anti-riot forces, and firefighters” in the Zhejiang Province’s Yayang Town in Wenzhou City, raiding churches and conducting mass arrests of Christians, ChinaAid reported Friday.
“Belongings of relevant individuals were illegally confiscated, roads leading to the church were completely blocked by police, and Christians in Yayang Town were unable to enter the Yayang church. The operation lasted nearly five days, yet no public statement was issued by officials,” the outlet noted. “Within just the first two days, several hundreds of people were taken away for questioning. On December 16 and 17, at least four more individuals were detained.”
Putin on the Russian Economy

Reality versus the Western Narrative

On December 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin gave his annual end-of-year press conference. Unlike most American and European press conferences, it lasted more than four hours. It was also much more open to both the public and international news media than is standard for American and European conferences. He answered questions from reporters there and ordinary Russian citizens by phone. His introductory remarks were a relatively brief summary of mostly economic statistics, but he went on for better than four hours answering questions not only from Russian media, but many international media organizations, including NBC.
The America That Once Was (A Christmas Memory)

HAS THE “SPIRIT” OF CHRISTMAS LEFT US?

At age 87 I have a lot of mostly good memories of Christmases past—of the America that once was (but is no more), and of the many people who “traveled” with me over my life’s road, at least for part of it. How much more time I’ll have to enjoy all of these memories only my Savior and LORD Jesus knows. But I would like to share a few of these “old” memories with you once again. So bear with me. Perhaps you share similar memories. I hope so. If not now, then when you get “old and experienced”, like me.

Tina Descovich, CEO & Co-founder, Moms for Liberty
It is an honor to take part in the this task force. Thank you to the First Lady and to each of you for this opportunity.
The potential impact of AI in education is unparalleled.
Through AI technology, children can have source documents at their fingertips and history can be brought to life. This extraordinary opportunity comes with great threats too. And parents are sounding the alarm BEFORE the genie gets out of the bottle, into our classrooms and causes harm to our children.
Speaker Johnson’s Moment, Call the Recess or Admit Defeat

The Republican Party controls the House. It nominally controls the Senate. It controls the White House. That control was not delivered by a technical or marginal win. It was delivered by a popular vote victory, carried across every swing state, and anchored in an unmistakable electoral mandate in November 2024. Yet among America First voters, among the core Trump base that delivered that mandate, Congress is viewed not as an ally but as an obstacle. This is not an impression formed by hostile media framing. It is a rational judgment formed by observation. Little of consequence has moved. Signature promises stall. Nominees languish. Executive agencies drift under acting leadership. Judgeships remain vacant. The base sees motion without progress and concludes that the legislative branch is wasting time.
Israel to Press Trump on Renewed Iran Strike Options as Gaza, and Regional Security Dominate Agenda
- Details
- By Emmitt Barry - Worthy News Washington D.C. Bureau Chief

(Worthy News) – Israeli officials are preparing to brief President Donald Trump on renewed military options against Iran when he meets later this month with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, amid mounting concern that Tehran is rapidly rebuilding its ballistic missile program and restoring damaged air defenses, according to an NBC News exclusive citing officials familiar with the plans.
The meeting, expected at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, comes as Israeli intelligence assesses that Iran’s missile production—hit by Israeli strikes earlier this year—is accelerating again. Israeli officials believe Iran could eventually produce up to 3,000 ballistic missiles annually if left unchecked, a buildup they see as the most immediate strategic threat to Israel and the broader region.
It's a Wonderful President

I've been shocked that Americans are in such a grumpy mood as reflected in all the public opinion polls.
What a paradox: At the same time, we have peace and prosperity, including more income, more wealth, more of almost everything that we want to buy (yes, except for housing), Americans seem to think we have an "affordability crisis." In 2025 the median household income in the United States has risen to more than $86,000 a year -- an all-time high.
Every income group and every ethnic group is richer today than ever before. Hispanics now have a median household income above $70,000, which would make them rich in most countries where they or their parents came from.
Why Religious Freedom Cases Are Back in the Sportlight this Week
- Details
- By STZ Network
Religious freedom is once again drawing national attention as new court cases and policy disputes raise questions about how faith is protected in public life.
For many Christians, these cases go beyond legal theory. They affect the ability to live out biblical convictions openly — in churches, schools, workplaces, and everyday life. Just as importantly, many believers see these issues as a reminder that Christians have a shared voice and shared rights under the Constitution.
Retelling “A Christmas Story” Once Again
- Details
- By W.H. Lamb
Note: This touching story has been published in The Times Examiner twice previously. But I know that its message could touch a lot of people. At least I hope it will. “Christmas”, as we all should know, is NOT about Santa Claus and his reindeer bringing us presents, nor about snowmen or “grinches” or any of that nonsensical but fun stuff. It’s not even about “Charlie Brown” and his wonderful recitation of the true meaning of Christmas, right from God’s Word. (THANK YOU, Charles Schultz for your brave stand, long ago, against CBS). It’s not really about family gatherings, with special dinners, although they are usually memorable. It’s not about getting lots of presents, mostly stuff we don’t really need, spending money we or others have gone into debt to acquire, which is truly a waste of money and effort, in my opinion.

John 1:1-5 (KJV)
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

In promotional materials shared on Instagram (as seen in the image below), SCCT lists “Clay Smith” as the actor portraying Daddy Warbucks in the current production.
After Bondi Beach, the West Must Directly Confront Jihadism, Experts Say
- Details
- By Dan Hart - The Washington Stand

As the sharp surge in anti-Semitic attacks continues around the globe with the mass-casualty shooting targeting Jews that occurred at Australia’s Bondi Beach on Sunday, experts say that societies and government officials in the West must directly confront Islamist jihadist extremism rather than attempt to address the issue with accommodations and stricter gun control laws.
The Bondi Beach atrocity, which was committed by a Muslim father-son duo who appeared to be inspired by the Islamic State, took the lives of 15 Jews, including a 10-year-old girl, a rabbi, and an 87-year-old Holocaust survivor. Twenty-two more victims are currently hospitalized, including six in critical condition.
Christian Mobilization Effort Reaches One Million ‘to Pray and Vote’ Ahead of 2026 Primary Season
- Details
- By Christians Engaged
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A Christian nonprofit has announced today that it reached its “one million Christians” milestone for mobilizing the church to pray, vote and engage in every U.S. election – ahead of critical primary elections that begin in March 2026.
“Christians are called to be salt and light in our culture,” said Bunni Pounds, founder and president of Christians Engaged, whose state-of-the-art voter mobilization network has reached more than one million Americans across all 50 states, employing “reminders through texts and emails around state and local elections.”
“While the American church has grown apathetic in its stewardship of our rights and liberties,” Pounds said, “reaching this milestone signals that Christians are waking up to demonstrating tangible expressions of their faith by stepping into the voting booth, the ballot box, and the halls of civic engagement.”
Strong Support for Term Limits on Congress in SC U.S. Senate Race

Washington D.C. – U.S. Term Limits (USTL), the leader in the non-partisan national movement to limit terms for elected officials, praises 2026 U.S. Senate candidate for South Carolina, Mark Lynch, for signing the pledge for an amendment to term limit Congress. Previously, candidates Kyle Freeman and Annie Andrews also signed the pledge.
U.S. Term Limits has the support of more than 150 pledge signers in Congress. USTL President Philip Blumel commented on their pledges saying, “This strong support of term limits shows that there are individuals who are willing to put self-interest aside to follow the will of the people. America needs a Congress that will be served by citizen legislators, not career politicians.”
A Balanced Budget Amendment Could Put the Constitution At-Risk

The Balancing Budget Conundrum

Our nation’s debt is out of control. We are currently $38.4 trillion in debt, which amounts to $288,000 per household in the United States. In this year alone, the federal government will collect $5.2 trillion from American taxpayers but spend $7 trillion. For decades, legislators and activists have considered various proposals to reel in the power-hungry politicians who keep throwing money at failing programs, forcing them to balance the nation’s books. One of these ideas is to pass a “Balanced Budget Amendment” (BBA) to force spending limits on the executive and legislative branches. However, questions remain as to whether a BBA could actually move politicians to become fiscally responsible, even though fiscal discipline is very much needed. But most concerning is the push by those who seek to open up our Constitution in order to pass a BBA, exposing it to wide-scale revision at a time when our nation is deeply divided.
Stark Violence: An Aberration or Human Nature?

The senseless killing of men, women and children in Australia in a horrific anti-Semitic and anti-human act. Hollywood icon Rob Reiner and his wife having their throats cut while sleeping in bed—by their own son.
These shocking situations appall anyone who has a sense of decency and humanity.
But they beg the question: are these acts an aberration that we should think is infrequent and circling on the periphery of society, or are they part and parcel of human nature?
Republicans Will Win in 2026

In a Wall Street Journal interview a few days ago, President Donald Trump was circumspect regarding his party's prospects in the 2026 congressional elections.
Although no one doubts the president's supreme confidence that he is doing the right things for the country ("I've created the greatest economy in history"), he acknowledged, "that he couldn't predict if that would translate into political gains for Republicans next fall."
The party of the sitting president has picked up congressional seats in midterm elections only twice since World War II: Bill Clinton in 1998 and George W. Bush in 2002. And the case of Bush was far from business as usual. The election followed the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Patriotism was surging, with Bush's approval peaking at 90%, and by the 2002 elections it still was above 60%.
City of Coffeyville Retreats After Constitutional Challenge Over Religious Use of Property

Churches of Coffeyville Unite to Defend Religious Rights

COFFEYVILLE — The City of Coffeyville has formally withdrawn its attempt to classify an active ministry property as “vacant” and impose escalating annual penalties after the action triggered constitutional scrutiny and a formal legal challenge.
The City’s enforcement of Ordinance No. G-25-04 threatened a $500 annual fee, compounded year after year, unless the property—actively used for ministry and chaplaincy work—was registered as vacant. The building was neither abandoned nor vacant.
When Rev. Dr. James F. Linzey, a retired U.S. Army chaplain, a Wounded Veteran and pastor of Coffeyville Worship Center, went to City Hall to correct the record, the inquiry raised immediate alarm.
What Was the Star of Bethlehem?
- Details
- By Charles Creager, Jr.
We see it in every Manger scene along with the wise men, and because of that, it is commonly associated with Christmas. The irony, however, is that the wise men may not have arrived until months, to even almost two years, after Jesus was actually born. The question before us is, what was the star of Bethlehem? There have been numerous suggestions, most of which do not even come close to really matching what is described. So, let's dive in and look at the possibilities to see if we can get an idea of what the star really was.
Why Johnny Can't Read
- Details
- By Stephen Moore
Reading and math scores are abysmal across the country, as national testing results keep documenting. Illiteracy rates are rising: The number of 16- to 24-year-olds reading at the lowest literacy levels increased from 16% in 2017 to 25% in 2023, according to data from the National Center for Education Statistics.
In some inner-city schools, less than half of kids are reading or doing math at grade-level proficiency. Many high school grads can't read their diplomas.
As an economist, I would submit that this is our greatest crisis. It puts the future of American prosperity in grave danger. Also, the learning gap widens income and wealth disparities.
